Every hotel is not a match for everyone. This hotel has lovely, expansive public seating areas. The staff is very friendly. I spent four nights attending a function at this hotel. The original king room with a river view was small with some wallpaper that clashed with the busy patterned carpet. The room and the bathroom were very clean. The ceilings were tall. However, the next day we paid extra to move to a suite. The suite was much more spacious. Some walls had wallpaper and the busy patterned carpet continued. This room was also clean. There were enough power outlets for all our electronics, though there was not a actual designated desk if you had to work. There is a mini-refrigerator, but no coffee maker or microwave. I had requested a microwave when booking and again at check-in. Finally, on the second day, I again requested a microwave and one was delivered. The air conditioning had problems. The thermostat did not work. The room was freezing and then water began to drip from the sprinkler head. I called maintenance. One man came and he sent for a second man. The second man suggested that we just turn the air off and turn it on when the room became warm. We repeated this procedure throughout our stay. We only requested housekeeper on one day. We stayed in the living room and asked her to just empty the trash and clean/refresh the bathroom. Of course, we tipped. She left no toilet paper or clean glasses. I found her in the hallway for the toilet paper. There is no room service from the attached restaurant. You can order and go to the restaurant to pick-up your food. A 20% gratuity is already added to your bill. Also, make certain that you bring your cellphone. There is no paper menu in the room. You must scan a bar on your cell to pull up the menu. The restaurant did not offer enough options for us and we had delivery from other nearby sites. This hotel has a great location, near many Chicago establishments. It is great for many people. However, it is not a "fit" for us.
The Kimpton Monaco in Chicago exceeded my expectations unbelievably. The front desk staff was super kind, friendly, accommodating and answered my questions with a smile. The restaurant Fisk and Co. had outstanding breakfast and dinner appetizers. The room was spacious and clean and had the coolest little niche to sit and people watch along the window. I've stayed at several hotels in Chicago, some with even higher star ratings or google ratings online. The experience and service at Hotel Monaco surpassed any of those and I am definitely going to stay here again. Great job!!
Make sure to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any place. This web site will compare hundreds of hotel sites and normally will have prices much cheaper than others! You're welcome :)! This resort is one of the highest rated in this area. I've been staying here for years. If you decide to stay here you will love it I'm sure!Spacious, clean rooms with fun art and other high end details. Helpful staff. Loved the shower with glass door that actually closes and doesn’t make a wet mess of the bathroom. Fun window ledge you can sit on and watch the street below.
My husband and I have been visiting the Kimpton Monaco since 2014, finally buckling and bringing the kids with us since 2018, including a Thanksgiving weekend with my parents. Our most recent stay before last weekend was Sept 2019- we made sure to look and note potentially how different things could be now in 2022. We were more than excited to see Antonio waiting for us outside as we pulled up! He has made every stay fantastic with his expert care and service, his focus is taking such good care of his guests. He remembered our names, we shared and caught up on the last 3 years. We checked in with ease, thankful to Jon and Ron at the front desk. They were more than helpful, so so friendly- my family and I were so so happy to be home again! The room updates are beautiful, bathrooms large and well stocked- we noted the signage to call front desk for use/borrow of “forgotten” items. Nice touch! The complimentary coffee in the lobby was fantastic, housekeeping was on point. We had a 2 Queen river view room on floor 12, again we sat for hours in the windows and watched the world go by. The hotel is a short walk to the best food and shopping on Michigan Ave and State St, but be sure to venture off the beaten path and find all the amazing spots that the staff will recommend if asked. Fisk & Co absolutely hit the spot for a delicious breakfast and again for a late afternoon cocktail and appetizers- the oysters and frites are not to be missed. This is a boutique hotel so we are part of a “smaller crowd” when we stay, but the service is same as if we were the only guests.
This hotel is in a great location. It is close to Milennium Park and the Riverwalk. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. The staff was great, they made you feel welcome. The room was good. We will definitely stay here again.
Lobby staff (front desk & bellmen) is the best! Yes, they are all helpful, professional & friendly to guests but you also are left with the feeling that they are a close team & your stay benefits. Thanks Location is excellent, just off Riverewalk. The rooms are nice, quiet and housekeeping is impeccable. Enjoyed the in- hotel restaurant, Fisk & Co, for breakfast. Irish pub is just across the street. Highly recommend and will stay again.
My friend and I stayed here together for two nights and loved it! The location is excellent — we were able to walk to all the sites we wanted to see in the city. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with our bags. They also held our bags all day for us once we’d checked out and assisted us with putting them in our Uber. We were staying in an ADA accessible room — it was a great room though did have a few things that should be changed. For example, the shower bench was in the closet rather than the shower; one curtain did not have an accessible pulley loop; the room door was heavy, and the light switch to turn lamps by the bed on and off was difficult to reach. We had a fabulous stay, though, and if these issues in the ADA room are fixed, it would be even better! Would definitely stay here again.
We chose the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago for our family/group trip to the lovely city of Chicago. We are very glad we did! The staff did so much to make us feel welcome and special during our stay. A warm and grateful shoutout goes to Concierge, Mark, for going above and beyond for our family. Thank you, Mark! Rooms: We had a one bedroom king suite on one of the highest floors facing the river. WOW! What a spectacular view. I especially loved the large tall window seats to take in the sights while relaxing with a glass of wine or coffee. The rooms have everything you would need for a hotel stay and were very clean and inviting. It felt like a little city apartment. The bed was comfortable and I really enjoyed the luxurious shower and toiletries. For being so close to all the action, the room was pretty quiet! I was pleasantly surprised. Extras: My brother in law was celebrating a big birthday, and the hotel was so kind to write him a little note and gift him a special treat. This hotel is a great choice if you are looking to celebrate a special occasion. We also enjoyed the fantastic morning coffee bar (and we are picky about our coffee), the cold towels in the lobby after a bumpy flight, and fresh cold ice water to quench your thirst at all times during the day. Check out the "Forgot it we got it" list for anything you might have accidentally left at home. This hotel really makes it so you do not need for much while you are away from home. We had a late flight the day we left and the hotel was very happy to store our luggage after check out until we left and we never felt like a burden. Location: We really loved the location of the hotel. It was extremely walkable with so many fun options to see and do nearby. We walked quickly over to get an obligatory photo with the bean, enjoyed strolling the Riverwalk, and had a ball on the architecture tour right across from the hotel (Thank you again to Mark for setting this up!). Anytime we needed to travel a little further, the amazing staff was more than happy to hail us a cab and the wait was never too long, even at peak times. I would recommend the Kimpton Hotel Monaco for any trip to Chicago. Between the amazing staff, beautiful rooms, complimentary extras, and central location, you cannot go wrong booking this hotel. We are very grateful for our wonderful time at the Kimpton. We can't wait to go back!
Excellent staff- kind, welcoming and friendly! I was in town for my birthday and they had a bottle of wine waiting for me in my room to help me start off my trip. While enjoying the complimentary Happy Hour drinks, they offered great dining spot recommendations- ended up dining at one recommendation that evening and had a great dinner! The hotel room was clean and perfectly safe. I was alone this first night so that was important to me. I requested a river view and am glad I did! I could sit up on the cushioned nook and look out towards the river and take in the awesome sights!
Another OUTSTANDING stay at the Chicago Kimpton Hotel Monaco!! The newly renovated hotel envelops you in luxury and style! The in hotel restaurant, The Fisk, provides great food and service! The hotel staff is second to none! They recognized me every time I came in! Kudos to Mark, Antonio, Sonya, Ron, and John. I will be back!!! THANK YOU!!
