The food was good. I ordered a white chicken dinner w/ rice, mac and cabbage and a ginger beer. I wasn’t a fan of the mac but enjoyed everything else. I did not like that I had to wait in line since I called my order in but thankfully it wasn’t too long like the other reviews described. Also make sure you have your ID if paying with card because they’ll ask for it. By far the best jerk in the city. People complained in other reviews about price increases but I don’t mind. If I can afford steakhouses $30 that goes in the pocket of a black owned business shouldn’t kill me! They also have a location in the South Loop but the food is definitely not as good.Food 9/10 Service 8/10
I stopped by this place while visiting from st louis. Jamaican food is my favorite and I've certainly had waaaay better. The jerk sauce was salty, the cabbage was good, but the Mac n cheese was dry. ? The staff taking my order was extremely rude. Also, after placing my order they asked for ID, which I didn't have any on me at the time, so she declined to take my order. I had to ask a random person to put the order in their name----- weird. I probably should've left then. But, after spending over $60 for a jerk chicken wing plate, a jerk fish plate, cabbage, extra rice and peas, mac n cheese, yams, and paying for extra jerk sauce (that was waaay too salty and i only received 2 extremely small containers). I instantly regretted going after that and then trying the food. Poor service, rude lady at the counter, over priced. I highly recommend you go somewhere else. I've never tasted bad Jamaican food. This was definitely a first. The rice & peas and the cabbage was decent, but definitely not worth going for just that.
The food is great how ever the customer service isn't.... I been going to the first jerk villa on 79th for years but, since I moved north I thought to try the location thats downtown. If I'm not mistaken isn't this a Jamaica restaurant and the dress code is open rite.... as I walked in to pick up my call in order a tall lady in all black walked up and stated no sandals in a aggressive way to the people who was trying to get in.... but as I look around I seen people that was already seated in the restaurant with sandals on. Even the workers looked at her in shocked, some staff even laughed and, said she was on one that night.i don't knoe if she was on a power trip but she was so rude and aggressive. But when her friends walked in she greeted them with open arms... I was so disgusted.... furthermore the sauce at this location is not consistent as the location on 79th..... my suggestion is to order take out and leave
The server was lousy and racist, my girlfriend and I walked in and waited to be seated for 15 minutes and not a single person said a work to us, just walked by. The very SECOND a different person walked through that door they were greeted and seated. Needless to say we walked out and ate somewhere else.
The food is good but I don’t see the point of calling ahead a time if you still gotta wait a hour to get your food and they also need to change their hours cause I went on a Saturday and it said they close at 10 get there at 9 they were already closed
The jerk was good but I will NEVER order from this place again! I ordered a $125 pan of jerk chicken for a party and when i got there to pick it up i had to waitm in a line with like 25 people to pay for it even tho ia was ready! because they only have one service person working! its rediculous that all that money they make they have such bad service!
Food was good was my first time visiting yesterday! I must say the food is cooked just perfectly, just like Just Jerk Cafe not to far away on the same street 79th in Chicago.
The customer service is lousy and disrespectful the wait time is awful but the food is flavorful and good only if the service was as good. Don't plane on call-in because it dose matter you still have to get in line and wait. Is the food worth the treatment you will receive from Jamaica jerk Villa...... No.
I had a friend have her party catered, I was scared to eat the jerk. I’ve had too spicy and never ate it again. The chicken was moist and the sauce had so much flavor . A little kick but not over powering! It was amazing. The rice I have got to come in and get some good stuff!
