I love the food but not the customer experience sucks! I really wish they upgrade by accepting cards and offering delivery services through the multiple delivery platforms such as Uber Eats, Door Dash and Grubhub. I want to continue to support them as a black business but it’s hard when their services are limited. I live in the city but will drive to Gary to Nephews because the food is just as good, made to order, ready on time, they accept multiple forms of payment and delivery services. I would’ve gave them a 5 star if they mirrored Nephew’s way of conducting business.
Please address the wait time issue. It is beyond inconvenient. As a black owned and operated business, it is imperative that you make improvements for your customers. Expand to Deliver capability. The good food does not outweigh waiting hours for it.
I visited the home of the Hoagy for the first time and I was beyond angry with the wait time for one sandwich. I was on my lunch break and the place was packed. Once my break was over I went back in to ask how long for my order, my number was 51 and they were only on 41 so like most first timers…. I asked for a refund and low and behold, they don’t refund so I looked for the sign and of course the sign was so small you need a magnifying glass to see. I talked to the owner/boss and she said I will tell them to rush my order. I had to wait 15 minutes more. I said I would never visit this place again….. well I got home and opened up this sandwich took a bite and my childhood awakened. So if you here of this place please order ahead or be prepared to wait an hour. I give them 5 stars for the food and 1 star for wait time. Great turkey sandwich! I have to go back on my word…. I will just order ahead of time.
Ain't nothing change but their address. Call in or walk in it doesn't matter. You'll wait 30 min or long. It's been like that for 20yrs. But the food is still delicious ? so you definitely have to be in the mood for this place.
Food was excellent, once we did eventually get it. The wait was extremely long, like almost 2 hours. And parking wasn't that great either, but it was on a Saturday. If they could speed up their process, 5 stars for sure.
Food is good but be prepared to wait at least an hour. This is not a place you come on your lunch break! This business could be great if they upgraded! They don’t take credit cards, you can’t order online, and you can’t get through if you try calling.

Staff are rude and wait times are ridiculous. If possible I would give no stars. There was a security guard there taking orders and yelling at people. The entire setup is so disorganized. There is no space to socially distance and people were telling me that they had been waiting hours for their food. I had to leave as this was unacceptable. The steak sandwiches are good, but not that good. My time and decent customer service is important to me. I will not patronize this place.
I was introduced to this place in 1968 when I returned from Vietnam. Customers complained about customer service then and they complain even more today. It takes them over an hour to complete your sandwich order.People still stand in line and complain about the wait time!Wait time and customer service minus zero.Food is 5 stars. The wait time can never be explained!
Being that me and my mother moved from Chicago to another state, whenever we make it back home we always try to go to our favorite food place. Their steak sandwiches, fries and the regular hoagie is so delicious. Only flaw is the wait. Other than that, they're so good and worth the wait.
