Food was outstanding. Don't understand the negative reviews, only had vegetarian dishes but they were all stellar. Bhindi Masala was a highlight. Highly recommend over most places near Devon and Western.
Used to order from here years ago. It was decent and the price was right. Then they hiked up their entrees by 2-4 dollars each, which was the wakeup call I needed. Found a WAY better restaurant to order from in little india (Oberoi's). Incredibly stingy with rice, bland, WAY over-priced entrees. Don't bother, there are much better indian restaurants.
Wanted so badly to love this place but.... they charged me 4$ for Naan when the menu said 1.99. We asked for no spice in one dish and extra spice in another they tasted exactly the same also so did all the dishes. I love Indian food and know what it should taste like. This place is great for people that can't handle flavor or spice people who don't actually like Indian food.
Worst Indian food I've ever had. The samosas were made with egg roll pastry, so they were super flaky instead of doughy. My friend's lamb biryani had no flavor, which was also the case for my cauliflower dish. And they forgot to include one of the two orders of samosas, maybe for the best since they were terrible. The microwavable packages from Tasty Bite are better.
Good place and decently priced!
As I do own this business since 2012 May. In a peaceful neighborhood Sauganash north of Chicago This is combination of Himalayan (Nepalese version) & Indian foods. Momo ,(dumplings ) choila( Nepali style ) barbecue chicken are A1 whereas Chicken tikka masala Butter chicken are taste of buds . Tandoori chickens, lamb chops are additional topmost grilled dish we serve. Garlic naan ,hims bread , parathas can’t be excepted from the list . It’s BYOB Grubhub door dash Uber eats menufy are online partners
First time eating from here. We ordered takeout. We ordered chicken tikka masala, chicken makhani, keema samosa, garlic naan and lamb biryani. Nothing stood out. The adults in our group didn't like anything. The kids liked it, for what it's worth. Biryani was mushy. The naan had too much garlic and has a mushy texture. The samosa was flavorless. The food was average at best.
I love Himshikar and order here as often as possible. The food is always excellent and it's always delivered piping hot!
The people here are so nice, and We used to love this place for their veggie samosas, and I had eaten their other food last year, but we went back recently after laying low on the restaurants, only to find that the food here is now dry and flavorless. This time, our meal just...hit differently than it used to. Did the chef change? My Tandoori chicken I got in my takeout order was flavorless and mostly dry. Also, the big chunk of onion that was nestled into the box with the chicken wasn’t grilled, cooked or anything...it looked like someone had just taken an onion straight from the produce section, chopped it in half, and popped it into the microwave for a min. No seasonings on the onion or anything. Just doesn’t make much sense to even include it with the chicken. $13 for dry chicken and what tastes like microwaved onion is a bit much, in my opinion.I had the same experience with the chicken samosa unfortunately - not much flavor, and the flavors that were there, just didn’t hit right. We used to love this place for their veggie samosas, so perhaps we should just stick to buying those, but we don’t know if they’ve changed too. You guys can do it! Every restaurant goes through stuff like this, so hopefully you guys can improve and go back to the quality of food you had before!
Ordered from here after reading some rave reviews but the food was shockingly bad. The papadam was likely microwaved. The Chicken Makhani(butter chicken) is described as Grilled boneless chicken cooked in creamy tomato butter sauce - it had bones in it and I suspect it was bits of boiled chicken dunked in some pink sauce that contained neither tomato nor any butter. Also on our order - Sabzi Pakora- ok; Aloo Tikki - no thank you; Chicken Choila - ok, but I’ve never had that before; Poori - felt like rubber; and two styrofoam containers filled to a quarter of their capacity with chopped onions and tomato with a couple specks for something green. There were a few other things we ordered but I’ve decided it probably better I not have the opportunity to comment on those. It’s been a while since I’ve been but Cumin on Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park has some great Nepalese food.
