I didn’t think any place could ever touch my beloved Nojo Ramen in San Francisco but from first bite I could pretty confidently say this was the best Ramen I’ve ever had. I don’t curse but it was so good I think I let one slip. I got the signature bowl with 1/4 spice and it was amazing and so flavorful. I’m not a huge spice fan but it gave it just the right amount of kick without being so spicy that I needed to think about grabbing water. There’s a dozen bars/shops nearby so we just grab a drink, go shopping or stroll the neighborhood if there’s a longer wait. My bf and I leave our number, grab a drink or 2 and come back when they text us. It’s one of the few hyped places that is absolutely worth the hype.
Usually I dine in (well worth the wait) but I decided to order out today. Take out High Five still lives up to the hype. Really hit the spot. Eggs and pork cooked to perfection as always. I get an extra egg cause why not!? They’re delicious.
Some of the best ramen I’ve ever had, even including Japan. This ramen den sits in the basement of Green Street Meats in a cozy, bar-style layout with very limited seats. More likely than not, you’ll need to put yourself on a waiting list, and you can’t call ahead or make reservations. I promise, it’s worth it.The moody lighting and eclectic atmosphere sets the tone for a pretty stellar meal. Grab a painkiller and drink out of a stone skull while you wait for your tasty noods.I’ve had the tonkotsu twice and swear by it. So good. The broth is deep and rich, the noodles are just firm enough, and the full spice is perfect. You can adjust the spice level to suit your preference at half, quarter, or none (mild).I would literally fly back to Chicago just for this ramen.
First time here. High Five Ramen is definitely the best ramen spot I have tried in the United State! Its a cozy area with great vibing music that adds to the ambience. It feels like you are in Asia. It is underground restaurant. They do not take reservation. We have to wait for about 45 minutes but it was all good as we went back up stairs to the bar area while we waited. By the way, the bartenders were amazing and they have amazing drinks! The venue only had four choices for ramen. I tried the Tonkotsu and it was delicious! I was told that they get their pork from the BBQ place upstair which is fine because it was amazing! Their egg was cook to perfection! The portions are large so you'll get full. I love it! We got their sake and it was pricy as it was $43 or $48 for the sake. But overall everything was great!
Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! One of Chicago's top Ramen spots for me! Definitely get their early! This underground spot has great ambience and jams, with 16-seats, reminiscent of Japanese taverns. Review here is on Saturday late afternoon after St Paddy's Day Parade and Chicago River dyeing. First in line at 305pm! Would rather wait in line before opening versus waiting in line after opening. Definitely get one of their bowls beginning at half spice. I typically get their Shoyu. Their Slushies are delicious but so are their selection of Sake. Can't wait for next visit!
Food that elevates the tasting buds. 1/2 spice is more then enough. Small but this place is bustling. Plan to reserve your spot way ahead of your dinner plan.
Best Ramen i have ever had
I liked that this place feels very exclusive. The vibe is cool and the food tastes delicious! I wish they took reservations because the wait time on a Thursday night is 1 hour. After that, the ramen is more on the pricier side than other ramens in the area. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for wait and price.
Not a ramen expert but this was pretty fire, I got the Tonkotsu. The broth was levels above what I’ve had in the past and the pork belly was perfect. I got the 1/2 spice and it honestly wasn’t that spicy but it did leave my tongue a little warm. I’ll get the full spice next time.I also didn’t wait since I got there 15 min after opening and was alone so was seated immediately.
Best ramen i have ever had. It'll be a while before I can find a place that beats it.So much flavor, so much spice.
