3.5 ratingWe came for restaurant week, but the Gnudi, which had been on the menu for the Choose Chicago website, was not on the menu when we arrived. Our server could have cared less. The free bread was the highlight of our meal. Presentation of the meatballs for restaurant week was definitely overlooked. Both the sausage and meatball dish were good, albeit nothing remarkable.Wild Boar pasta was the least favorite. Although the pasta aspect was perfect texture and consistency, the ragu was so over-peppered we had to ask for cheese to calm the seasonings.Dishes were reasonably priced for handmade food, but flavors from the pasta dish left something to be desired.Customer service was fair, but if you arrive early or have to wait for your table, be ready to awkwardly wait near patrons eating.
I was looking for a dinner conveniently located near The Second City and Gussies seemed to be the closest. I was pleasantly surprised to find some of the best Italian food I've had in Chicago. I've lived in Italy for years and I have high standards for Italian cuisine. Each dish was perfectly proportioned, plated and bursting with flavor. The decor was elegant, modern and cozy. 5/5
We had a great experience at Gussies. The complimentary bread was insanely good. I ordered the roasted chicken and it was great! Tons of food for the cost
Great meal! The garlic bread was amazing. The service was excellent. Homemade sausage was perfect and the paperdelle was cooked perfectly. Only hiccup was being charged for the meatball appetizer and not getting a full order but other than that everything was amazing.
Beautiful Spot to celebrate our 39th Anniversary! Beautiful food, wonderful service, just the perfect amount of everything to make us fall in Love with Gussie’s ❤️ We will be back soon! Ps…Did I mention that the garlic bread is like visiting heaven with the first bite! xo
Garlic bread was amazing as was the Tuscan salad. The sauce for the Boar pasta was too spicy and the boar was dry. The gnudi had too much cheese and didn't have great flavor. Was disappointed. Great wine and service.
We were led here from reviews of the previous restaurant, which is no longer here. The food was well prepared, but not overly amazing. However the pre-meal bread was stuffed with cream cheese and frankly saved the rest of the meal. I would probably go back just for that bread and give it another chance.
Great service and homemade pasta! Awesome bread too!
It was delicious and great service! They bread was amazing!
Cute little local Italian restaurant. Fair prices and great fresh quality pasta. Awesome customer service and ambiance. The starter bread roll is amazing! The shrimp Alfredo was perfect with a light sauce and fairly good sized prawns. The brown butter honey ravioli was delicious. However, I would recommend the brown butter honey ravioli as either an appetizer or a plate to share, having it as just an entre, the flavor can get boring very quickly. Overall great experience and I would definitely recommend.
