Gene & Georgetti was founded in 1941 by Gene Michelotti and his partner Alfredo Federighi. Located in the heart of River North, Gene & Georgetti is Chicago’s oldest and one of its finest steakhouses. Partners Gene and “Georgetti” worked hand in hand to establish the reputation of excellence that is continued through today.I went there on food from Hyatt Palace hotel just in a minute to enjoy the great taste of G&G menus.

It was an amazing Tomahawk , perfectly cooked. Tender in the inside, crispy in the outside. Side of potatoes was great, too. Ceasar salad was great, just perhaps the croutons were a big chewy va crunchy. Great “old fashioned “ Chicago decoration and excellent service. Much better than any fancy chain steak house.

Great experience! A chic environment with an old world feel. Clean tables and server ware + attentive staff! Ordered the start stuffed zucchini and baked clams- both were tasty, clams were my favorite. Lobster in spicey red sauce was tangy with a bite- so good! The salmon was seared to perfection, accompanied with perfectly seasoned potatoes. Must try spot around river north for a date night!

This is an “THE” Italian steakhouse. Definitely one of my top 5 favorites in a city full of great dining choices. I special ordered a rigatoni dish with diavolo gravy and Italian sausage. It was cooked to perfection. Just enough spice. Slightly chewy pasta. Wait staff is among the best that I’ve ever encountered. My dining companions loved their steaks and one had the fettuccini Alfredo. Just a great place to dine and enjoy friends. The only knock is that the table next to us was seated too close and the folks there were drunk and very loud. It made conversation difficult. Don’t miss G&G if you’re in Chicago. Some great memorabilia on the walls. The signed Lucille Ball photo is my favorite.

We wanted steak and within walking distance of our hotel -- this fit the bill. Quaint old steakhouse from the '40s. Great staff and friendly chef -- they seem to have a lot of regulars. We both had the filets -- my wife opted for the 8 ounces while I had the 12 ounces size. Both expertly prepared and cooked just right. We split a grilled asparagus which was also cooked just right. We were disappointed that they did not serve any bread -- apparently the used to. We would return to this traditional steakhouse.

Gene & Georgetti is a must visit in Chicago! There is a reason they have been open for over 80 years; so much history here and the food is delicious! They are family owned restaurant with an intimate atmosphere and friendly staff. Juan and Jessica were incredible and made our experience very special! Be sure to ask them about some of the photos and memorabilia around the dining room.We had a five course meal & were blown away. Highly recommend the Tagliata di Manzo with a side of vesuvio potatoes and broccolini. The steak was cooked to perfection and the crust was exactly the way we like it. The Paglia e Fieno and Garganelli Speck e Spinaci pastas were equally as great, as well as everything else we tried. For dessert, get the Leonardo Firenze cookies with vin santo for dipping!

OMG... First time here and definitely not my last. Came from DC to visit a friend and we picked this place for dinner. Carlos was our waiter and he was awesome. The food was phenomenal and filling. The bill was appropriate and well worth it. Will definitely be coming here again. Thank you for great service and awesome food. 3 hours later and I am still full. ?

Seriously good steaks. When you walk in you feel like you've just walked into the past. The service was great and they were definitely keeping an eye on our table. I'm definitely coming back.

Everything about this place is amazing. My husband and I came here on our first date. The steaks are so tender you can cut them with a butter knife!

New menu that has the classics plus a several new items. Same great service and vibe with food that’s better than ever. Interesting new pastas, a few new takes on their excellent steaks and starters. I was apprehensive at first, but G&G managed to effectively update without losing a bit of their character and history. No longer have their bread basket or potato discs but as good as they were, they’re not missed. Even the spumoni has a new twist and is great. Highly recommend as no nonsense classic chicago
