great dimsum. glad we can get it any time/any day)
I have eaten at a lot of Dim Sum places growing up and as an adult, mostly on the west coast and a few places in chicago. While overall I don’t think this is the best Dim Sum place, there are definitely certain dishes they do very well and others I’ve had better elsewhere. I would have given this 4.5 stars if I could since I just think specific dishes are lacking that I had. Overall, very delicious and satisfying. Portions are a bit smaller than I’m used to though. To start off, the place is HUGE. Service was very attentive and let us know when other food we were waiting on was going to come out soon. Had traditional Jasmine tea which I love. The pickled cucumber was great, Asian broccoli was also wonderful as well as the pea shoots! Our favorite was definitely the fried crab claw, Sui Mei (Pork version), along with various other dumplings. I think for me one of my favorite dishes is the BBQ Pork Buns in all versions. They were good but there was something lacking in it where it felt like not enough was put into the buns and the flavor lacked depth that I’ve gotten at other Dim Sum places. Salt and pepper pork ribs were okay, had some pieces that were mostly just fat and hardly any meet. The sesame balls, wow! I think these might be the best sesame balls I’ve ever had. I was so pleased with them. There’s maybe one other place in chicago I overall like more than this place but I will definitely be back for those sesame balls and fried crab legs! Also I was so surprised to see they are open for dinner, many Dim Sum places usually do breakfast and lunch only so it was kind of nice to go for dinner when there were less people and just because I was craving it at that time.
Good food!! We have our favorite female waitress who really takes care of youBut pls tip well! Cash tips preferred.
Furama is a restaurant that I have always loved. I have been in Chicago for over a decade and never lived in a place where we couldn't get it delivered. There was one apartment when we were a block past their boundary but whenever we called in they would deliver to my spouse and I because they knew us.It is a wonderful family business with an expansive menu. The restaurant dim sum dining is a fantastic experience. There are so many dishes to try and enjoy. With my allergies I tend to have to order one dish from the menu specifically, which can be a little difficult to do during their busiest times, but we tend to go regularly with a large group and they all LOVE the food options.I personally enjoy the sesame chicken regularly when we order delivery, but the food at Furama is excellent and I recommend you try dining there if you enjoy dim sum.
Great food in a relaxed setting!
"touch the heart" This Saturday people packed the giant banquet space to settle in for the barrage of carts that wheeled by brimming with a dozen different dumplings (shrimp-peanut, chive and pork stand out); fluffy buns (BBQ pork and pan-fried veggie-pork are awesome); and various fried and steamed morsels of hangover-absorbing snacks. Don’t miss the taro puff, ribs, pot stickers and sweet egg-custard tarts.
It was good, way more expensive than our usual restaurant we go. And the portions of the food are smaller than I expected. I don't recommend getting the sweet and sour pork, if you enjoy 5 pounds of breading in one tiny piece of meat. Plus adding to the that, it was very thought and not pleasant. We came on Friday night at 5:30pm and the place was empty. I would like to question the quality of the food know it was completely "dead" at that time. Not sure if I would go back here again.
Amazing dim sum! This place is large. We've made it a regular brunch spot!
The best dim sum I've had in Chicago. Everything is delicious – I particularly recommend the shrimp and scallop dumplings, the shrimp toast, and the bok choi is a sleeper hit! If you have room for something sweet, the sesame balls are sublime.
Super friendly staff and delicious food.
