I go in mostly for coffee and their drip coffee is consistently bad. I don't know how they're messing it up but it tastes almost similar to dunkin, with a very big "cardboard" type taste and no fruity acidity, chocolate bitterness, nothing. Makes me think they're brewing it wrong, or maybe it's a bad blend. Dollop down the street also has staffing problems sometimes but I won't usually be dissapointed like that. Otherwise it's a nice store like all other foxtrots.
I have yet to understand the secret behind foxtrot's seeming success. Those places are popping up like mushrooms throughout the city, but for the life of me I cant seem to understand what they really are or sell and whom they cater to. Anyway, this is not the reason for this post. This post is specifically dedicated to the foxtrot on McClurg in Streeterville , by far the worst of them all!The most infuriating feature of this place is the customer service. simply put, its abysmal! I live close by and find myself walking into this place out of sheer convenience (distance wise), swearing off of it after each visit, then succumbing to laziness a while later. Honestly, whoever is in charge need to do themselves and the neighborhood a favor by firing everyone then quitting because themself because they are doing a really bad job.Just this morning I waited 30 minutes for a smoothie, a morning with average customer density. The simple truth is I could see the lady preparing the smoothie at all times and the only reason it took so long is that she was chatting and cracking jokes in between each step. The kid at the cashier was clueless, rude and dismissive. the barista is always annoyed as if whiffing something rancid at all times. the kitchen is slow, incredibly slow, unapologetically unprofessionally slow....this place is bad, really really bad.
Walked in and loved the atmosphere and decor… and it was all downhill from there. It soon became clear why this was the only place in Streeterville where we could walk in and find a seat on a Sunday morning. Ordered a breakfast sandwich, patiently waited, finally asked about it 30 min later… at which point the staff told me they were out of receipt paper and therefore the order hadn’t made it to the kitchen (?) Ultimately got it after 45 min. The staff were audibly complaining about customers (in front of customers…), and the barista area was nasty. Watched a stack of tops get knocked over on the dirty counter and stacked back up for use… just gross all around. Bathrooms were dirty with no hand soap, which is particularly problematic if your average guest has to wait 45 min for a sandwich. If I were the owner of this place, I’d send someone in as a “secret shopper” to get a true view of how bad this customer service is. The place is cute, but literally everything else needs to be redone from the ground up.
The late is so yummy. Friendly team and cool vibe. They accept cards only, no Cash.
My husband and I come in on Saturday or Sunday mornings but the service is painfully slow. This place is busy and they haven’t figured out how to deal with the busyness effectively. We’ve been coming less frequently due to the long wait times. The food and ambiance are very good, so when in the mood to sit awhile we make a trip.
Love the concept and the seating area is airy and spacious. Good coffee.Service, however, is beyond atrocious.1. Ordered items online for self pick-up. Got notification 15 mins later saying items were ready. Popped over and not only the staff had no idea about the order (they apparently didn't check online order on the app) but the items were not even in store. And they said they were going to refund but still no refund (after a couple of months). Sent email to customer service - no response.2. On other occasions, staff are just rude - giving the impression that they are being inconvenience when I place an order.3. One occasion: 5pm on a Friday and they've "run out" of coffee. I asked why because they usually serve coffee till they close usually. Response was: "We're short-staffed" which baffled me to no end because there were 4 of them behind the counter and playing with their phone.Reading other reviews - seems like others experience the same rudeness from the staff. Go figure Foxtrot!
Coffee and smoothies are delish. Convenience store prices are fair. Selection is fresh. Wouldn’t go out of my way for the muesli but the avocado salmon toast is tasty.Staff is great — replaced a spilt coffee no questions asked, patient at checkout and quick with mobile orders.Sometimes smoothies look out of stock on app but are available in store so is worth checking if you’re feenin’ for one.
We live next door and would always go there for quick morning coffees and tacos. The new gentleman working there is beyond rude. He made fun of my boyfriend for not knowing how to use the app and caused a huge scene. Then, he made our Chai with espresso which we were too afraid to say anything to him since he can be very aggressive. Dollop or Starbucks down the street is much better and less judgemental.
Agree with recent reviews. I haven’t been to this streeterville foxtrot for a couple months because of an experience with a rude worker in the evening months ago. I came to pick up items I ordered using the app and after feeling like I inconvenienced him for coming in, I was also given the wrong item. I didn’t notice until I went home. I had no desire to go back there so I just threw the item away.
Foxtrot was my favorite go to coffee shop in Chicago. I've always loved their coffee and their customer service. However, yesterday I had the worst experience at Foxtrot Streeterville unfortunately. The person in the cashier named (Terrace) was very rude and disrespectful. He tried to make fun of me and embarrass me in front of my kids because I had difficulties using the Foxtrot app. It pains me to put a one star to one of my favorites coffee shop, but no one should be treated that way.
