Went to see Pistol Pete perform at this unassuming, down-to-earth bar/restaurant. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Food was great - large portions and arrived promptly. Drinks are reasonably priced. A great night out!
Food and drinks were GREAT. Had a little dinner getaway time with my husband (without the kids). I love the bricks and vintage feel of the space along with a stage. We enjoyed liver performances that didn't overtake the small space but rather created more ambience. The waiter was lively and truthful about the menu gave good suggestions on food but didn't know about IPAs. All and all good times.
We’ve been going to foundation for quite a long time now and everytime we go it’s a great experience. The live music is always amazing and the customer service at the bar is fantastic. Everyone is so attentive and friendly. Robbie is the best! The thursday burger special is my favorite! They’re so good! Overall Foundation is a lovely neighborhood gem. Go for a drink and some local tunes!

Came here to have a gathering in the semi-private room for my in-laws birthday. Jay, our server, was awesome! Gil, who helped us with reservations, was welcoming and accommodating. We will certainly come back again for happy hour or just to hang out. Thank for the great service. You gained a new set of customers.
Food was absolutely amazing! 10/10 would recommend. Worth the hour drive! The Cesar salad was so fresh and the fish and chips were nice and crispy!
I absolutely hate pulling the race card but after having visited this bar I feel that i have an obligation to warn anyone who is not white that one will be treated strangely here if one is not. I’ve been reluctant to say anything and have racked my brain for a while now trying to rationalize the inexplicable neglect, treatment and behavior of the staff towards me and my party but have been unable to come up with any other explanation other than the aforementioned issue. Experience here was weird…. Food was good but we were treated poorly by the bartender (robbie) im sorry but this is the first time in my history of living in chicago that I have felt like I was deliberately marginalized. (Maybe bec of race? Dont quite know) benefit of the doubt I guess… but wont be coming back. The bartender literally spoke to everyone sitting at the bar except for us. We asked for a the check and no thank you or nothing, just pay and go.
I've been going here for a while now, and it's my favorite spot in Portage Park! Beautiful bar, great deals, kind service, perfect drinks, and food so good it should have a Michelin Star! Seriously, try the flatbread. I can't say enough positive things about Foundation!
Finally checked this place out. Highly recommend the lamb burger. Staff were super friendly and helpful with beer selections. Will definitely be back. I was told there's live music daily!
