Club Lucky has been my go to spot for out of town guests for years but last night’s service was so awful that I may never return. From arrival the hostess was unfriendly, rude and acted as though we were a nuisance as a party of 7 on a Monday evening. There were plenty of outdoor tables both when we arrived and when we left, but we were assured no outdoor seating was available for a party of our size. When we got to the table, service was incredibly slow. Half our appetizers never made it to the table and the server didn’t even notice. We had to bring it up once all the entrees were served and at that point we didn’t really want to eat both the pasta and the apps at the same time. She barely acknowledged the mistake. We all consistently had empty water glasses and cocktail glasses because she stopped by the table a total of 3 times for the entire evening. I was glad we grabbed the first round of cocktails at the bar because I don’t think a round of cocktails would have even made it to us at the table in a reasonable timeframe. As a party that spent around $400 (yes we tipped 20%) this was a very disappointing evening. I can understand that a large party on a Monday night may be abnormal, but there was a huge lack of customer service from start to finish. There was so much room for improvement in our experience and I’m sad that one of my favorite spots is struggling to stay great.
?what a gem- had the chicken parm, my goodness ?? put me straight to bed
Come for the drinks- stay for the pasta! Club Lucky is one of my favorite places in Bucktown. We sat outside and the outdoor space is lovely. The waitress was great- she helped with recommendations and helpful tips. I am definitely going back again sometime soon. Loved the espresso martini!
We love coming here for birthdays, when family is in town, and on date nights! The service and waitstaff is always stellar. Our server JR did an exceptional job taking care of me and my fiancé for his birthday. Their cocktail menu is creative and will always have something perfect for you; I usually do the Always Lucky martini or the Bee’s Knees but I’ve tried others and they’re just as killer! The vibe is always on point and the food is so delicious. Our favorites are the homemade tortellini, literally any veal platter, the calamari calabrese, and the chicken vesuvio. So many yummy dessert options if you have a sweet tooth like us—we love the Tollhouse cookie skillet, chocolate cake, tiramisu and carrot cake. I love coming here and I’m always surprised to see reviews that share negative experiences during a pandemic, when restaurants are doing everything they can to stay afloat, keep staff on board, keep affordable pricing for their customers despite skyrocketing costs for the business owners, and keep their customers happy. We value places like Club Lucky that do their best in these difficult times.
This place has the best drink menu I have seen so far. I got The Bogart, it is amazing. A lot of throwback old fashioned drinks and they are sooo good. Very nice atmosphere, I was on a tour and I have to say for the amount of people we had the servers and bartenders were amazing at getting us settled quickly.
I’m going to go ahead and give this one a 5 star because the combination of food and ambiance deserves it. In a 10 point scale I’d say it’s a 7.7. This spot is like a mix between authentic Italian from the home land and Chicago dive in the most beautiful way. We walked in to this 50’s style diner which, in classic Chicago style is located on a corner spot in the middle of a (Bucktown) neighborhood. A nostalgic bar to your right and a 50’s style juke box to left as you walk in and I was sold. From there and upon the recommendation of my companion and our waiter we had the Club Luck salad (for 2) which was incredibly delicious. I’m not big on rabbit food but if I went by myself I’d be inclined to order this for myself ?. From there we got the 8 finger cavatelli. I’m not an Italian but I can appreciate a good recipe and how hard it is to make something so simple so perfectly. This was incredible. A beautifully simple tomato sauce with immaculately fresh al dente pasta. We finished with the lamb chops that were about $30 less than they’d be anywhere else in Chicago. Paired with a delicious Montepulciano and this made for the perfect, chill Italian experience. Would highly recommend.
Local Italian Pub. Food was wonderful. Service exceptional. Historic Chicago site.
Dont get me wrong! Food was delicious, it is an amassing kitchen! The thing is that the waitress that took our table, first, she complains about my accent! She trued not tu understand me wile I was asking for a delirium tremens beer, but with that service, really won’t be getting back! Servers were taking plates very quickly, and not asking if they could! And after dinner, the waitress again just went to the table and left the check at the table rushing us out the restaurant! Seriously, this is no way to treat the people that is using your service and restaurant, and believe me is not a cheap restaurant, for having that typo of service! Thank you and hope you get a better treatment than y had!
I used to love their food but my past two visits have been average. My expectations were much higher for how much they charge. The service is terrible - I am talking about the hostess was bluntly being passive aggressive while I as asking her about how long I will have to wait for.I get it that it is a stressful job/environment, but when I went up to apologize she gave me the same extremely rude attitude.Again, I am disappointed at the restaurant and will not visit again.
Service is very high quality here, but the food is average at best. We ordered chicken parm, ravioli, salad, and lasagna…my favorite part was the salad. The rest of the food tasted no better than what I’ve made for myself from Trader Joe’s.For the premium of eating out, I expected better.
