Popped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The Sizzling Swamp was the best. Loved the candied yams with pineapples. The baked macaroni and cheese did no disappoint. It's a small cafe, so it's best to go with a small party if you don't want to dine alone. The prices may be more than some expect, but you get exactly what you pay for. For me, it was worth it. Service and great food? I'll bring my dollars back to Cleo's.
They take forever to give you your order.Small in the inside.When my order was ready the owner was moving like a sloth to bag it. They have no urgency when trying to get the orders out; several people was waiting. To add insult to injury the food was disgusting especially the mac & cheese, yams and green beans. The only I item I could stomach out of my order was the fish. The fish was ok.

This is THE Chicago Fried Chicken spot! Ordering online is recommend as an hour wait time is standard. This is a quaint kitchen in the big city. Every bite is worth the wait.I visited with my boyfriend ordering: 3 thigh meal and catfish wings combo. The Nashville Hot sauce paired perfectly with the crispy fried chicken and a sweet iced tea.Only regretting I didn’t try the bread pudding!
Despite eating on sight and cooking to order, my fried chicken as well as the cat fish came to the table not as hot as they could have been. The side dishes were good, though they had more sauces on the menu than green vegetable offerings. The staff was nice and the place was very clean if just a bit dusty. Special credit to the sweet potatoes and Mac, they were awesome.
I was visiting from Memphis, TN. My friend and I stopped there and OH MY GOD!! This was so delicious, my friend said his "plate was specifically for him, the Lord works in that kitchen lol." Seriously this is the best home-cooked meal! If you're ever visiting Chicago or reside in Chicago, you need to stop by or call in your order, the best decision you will make❤

Imagine paying $50 for two entrees and they a charge you $0.50 for A FORK! Like cut it out! You want to control waste? Ask if your PAYING customers what utensils or not. What if I’m taking it back to eat at work? Or in the car while on the road? I have to bring my kitchen utensils to enjoy? It’s really a shame! The food is good, but so are other places that include a NAPKIN AND FORK, in the bag. It’s certainly not the amount, it’s the principle.They sell a box of cutlery at Sam’s for $20 and you get 250 prewrapped utensils. You really trying to make a profit off of a plastic fork and spoon?
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing.
