The service was horrible!!We waited in line for 30min. There were 6 Koreans waiting behind us, and we were also 6 and 1 kid, but they give priority to Koreans to enter first. What happened??? Maybe because they saw that we were not satisfied, we were not served after we were seated and the waiters' attitude was very bad. I have come here many times, but because of this time I will never come back again!! The waiter was very rude and couldn't enjoy the food every time I ate, as I was being driven away all the time.
Delicious! We tried their Japchae & Bibimbop dishes, and were delighted with over half a dozen Banchan (traditional complimentary side dishes with your meal).Although it was very busy when we went, service was still attentive and great!Next time I go I'd like to try the BBQ, because I could see other patrons enjoying it and the portions certainly looked large -- our meals had very generous portions too, by the way.
Had a fantastic time eating here but I feel like this place needs to come with an instruction manual for first-timers:Doesn’t really function like a normal restaurant— interactions with the wait staff are so fast you might miss it! First, try to get inside the main doorway to tell the host the number of people and then just wait… they will get you when they’re ready. You need to know what you want to order before your waiter comes over and they aren’t very patient about questions. One of the tabletop meat cooking dishes is plenty of food for two people. For 3 people, maybe get one of those and a noodle dish.We ordered the BulGoGi meat entree and the JapChae noodles. Both were incredible!!The tabletop meat dishes come with an array of sides. If they don’t automatically serve you the “salad” to go with the meat, ask for it. You’ll see it on other peoples tables and it’s so good!! I think the best way to enjoy the meal is to try the meat with each of the sides in different combinations—it’s amazing how different the same entree can taste when paired with different things. The food is SO GOOD.That being said, don’t take it personally if the staff is rude to you. They practically threw the check at my friend and I am still rating it 5 stars, eager to come back :)
Best Korean food I've had in Chicago so far. Quality meat with fantastic side dishes. We also got the naengmyun, which was fantastic on a hot day.Authentic food and authentic service. Expect very fast paced service and sass from Korean ajummas as you order and request things. They are on a mission to serve everyone as fast as humanely possible.
Probably the best korean bbq joint in all of Chicago. Food is authentic and very tasty. Portions are more than enough.
The cold noodles and beef are really good. The lady helped us for stirring. She is not good at English but really professional.
It is a small family-style restaurant and very authentic. The food was excellent, especially the naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles with beef and a spicy sauce). The service was good also.
Authentic Korean food. I really enjoyed it.
I absolutely loved Cho Sun Ok- my expectations were exceeded completely. This is very authentic Korean food with delicious meats, soups, and lovely side dishes. This was some of the best Korean food I've had since being in Korea, and I would recommend it to everyone. Definitely try the bulgogi, the green onion pancakes, and any of their soups. The space is quite small so I'd get there early, especially on the weekends.
Great food but the wait staff tells you what to order and rushes you during your meal when it’s busy. Went with friends on a busy night recently and we felt super rushed to the point that it was a bit overstimulating to a friend with anxiety. It’s a super hoppin place on certain days of the week for good reason because the food is very good but I wish we didn’t feel like the second we sat down they wanted us out. There are other reviews mentioning service and they are 100% correct. If you can look past this or go on a weekday or something you’re in for a treat. Excellent meat and banchan. 4/5 stars for food but 2/5 for service.
