The best Carnitas in Chicago 100% the cactus salad is out of this world the crunchy pork rinds wow wow wow wow wow
I’ve read this place often has a line out the window. We came in on a Monday at 1 PM and had no wait. The menu is simple. Your order carnitas by the portion, and they asked whether you wanted just meat, or skin, as well as stomach. We opted for meat with just a bit of the skin. A Half portion fed two easily. It comes with all of the Fixins for you to build your own tacos. We built three each and still had leftovers. The meet was slow-cooked, tender, and spiced perfectly. We’d highly recommend!
Lived I. Chicago prior to the pandemic and was able to make it back to Don Pedro after two years. The carnitas are the best in my opinion and the tacos de seso are amazing. Went during the week which is slower than weekends but still an amazing spot. I was highly suggest Don Pedro over any other carnitas restaurant in the area.
The carnitas are fire. They got good taste, bit salty tho. The salsa that they give are good also. They also have a red and green salsa that they sell, both are good also. Personally I get the salsa's cuz they're more spicy. They also sell birria and barbacoa and taquitos which I haven't tried but while I was there, a lot of people were buying everything else too.
The initial lady who sat us down was stand-offish and asking for a water seemed to enrage her, bill came and I was charged for things I didn’t order. But the cashier was total opposite fixed it immediately and very helpful food was outstanding. One bad apple don’t ruin a tree.
Carnitas are delicious, tacos de sesos spicy. Service good too.

Carnitas is the specialty and they are delicious, but get here early because they run out fast and they’re usually down to the last by 1pm.
Food is amazing not going to lie. However, there has been alot of changes since the onwer die. Get ready to wait for over 45 min. For carnitas. (Its sad i had to edit this review) from 5 to 2
Very long slow cooked pork. You can order lean, fatty or a mix (which is what I do). Superbly spiced and served with cilantro, onions, 2 salsas and tortillas. Huge portions at a very reasonable price. Saturdays and Sundays the line is out the door and down the block. Go for a weekday lunch.
