Food was amazing. The decor was everything. Especially the big open windows. I ordered the steak quesadilla and pork tacos. The meat was grilled just right. Some of the best Mexican food in the city. The staff were nice attentive and on point will definitely come back.

Long time neighborhood restaurant. Great food, drinks and ambience! Same owners have a Churro parlor which they make from scratch. So yummy!!

Some of the best Mexican Food I've had in quite some time. The Margarita was alright, but the food was awesome. I had the Steak Burrito Suizo and it was fantastic. The rice and beans that came with it were amazing too. Highly recommended.

If you’re looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant near the area I suggest this place! The service was quick and the servers are very friendly! Such a beautiful and authentic restaurant! The food was delicious and the drinks were great! The carnitas tacos are amazing!! Will be coming back :)

Fresh chips, good service and presentation. Nice outdoor seating area.

The Food was just okay. Drinks were good, I wouldn’t return.

We just walked out of this establishment after having a full course meal and drinks (over $100). We were were pretty much kicked out and weren't even done with our drinks. After only being there for an hour the manager asked us if we could give up our table because people were waiting for a table. Told us he'd sit us at the bar when there was clearly no space at the bar to sit us. I've worked in the hospitality industry before and this is something you just don't do primarily because our reservations were for 5:45 and it's 6:48 now. When we confronted him to tell him that is something you just don't do he didn't really care and very arrogantly said he knew his food was good. The food was NOT good and will never return to this business. It's so sad to see all the fuss about this place on social media when in fact it's not.

So glad I visited this place. I got to sit in the patio. Bit windy, on my day but there's about 17 tables out here. I loved the drinks, got both the tamarind and guayaba based margaritas and I loved them. Just the right mix of tequila/mezcal. I ordered the Steak Sincronizada. I'm very picky with meat, and the asada was good, not great. The Sincronizada is great. It's like a proper quesadilla with asada and with cebolla y tomate. The rice and beans were good to. The salsa was great and the chips were good.Cherry on top was the flan. Most are gelatin based or an imitation but this one is a real Spanish flan and it's real good.Definitely coming back.

Cafe El Tapatío is one of our favorite, neighborhood, Mexican restaurants in Chicago! The food is outstanding and authentic to the true Mexican food I grew up on. From their caldo de res, in the fall/ winter cold months, to the aracherra XX, nopales, rice and beans, Enchiladas, all the tacos and margaritas! This place delivers! So many family memory trips to Mexico City to visit my abuelita trickle back and I'm transported back to food l, family and Mexico! Love love love this place!!!!

Got there and in spite of our Open Table reservation the owner informed us there would be a 20-30 minute wait. WHAT IS THE SENSE OF MAKING A RESERVATION. We waited 20 minutes and with no signs of being seated went to El Nuevo Mexicano. No hassle there.
