First time visitors to the restaurant and we couldn’t have been more delighted! We were so unprepared for such excellent, high quality food. Each dish was better than the last and we literally couldn’t pick a favorite as it was all fabulous! Our servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and guided us through picking a variety of courses- some of which we never would have thought to order (but are so glad we did)! We will absolutely be returning each time we visit Chicago! Our compliments to Big Jones!
Such a great menu and selection of foods for a southern inspired restaurant. Had the fixed price tasting menu and it was so much food but so delicious. That and the deviled crab as well which was tasty! The frozen drinks were great as well. I can't speak any better about it!
Inside atmosphere, service, and food were excellent. Tried appetizers, soup, entree, and dessert. All were wonderful. This place does get busy so plan accordingly. Price is on the higher end but you will get higher quality service, detailed platings, and amazing taste and blending of flavors.
I am satisfied. Delicious comfortable and excellent services. Really good spicy bloody mary and plenty of great Bourbon. Love the charcuterie board. Fancy and flavorful. Love the skilled cornbread. Soft and smooth. One of the best dark meat fried chicken in Chicago.I love everything here.
When we dined in they were busy w/no reservations available. We sat at the Chef's Table & really enjoyed the experience... highly recommended as u get 2 see the Kitchen work, very impressed. I ordered the Gumbo Ya-Ya which was phenomenal along with the Sweet Potato Hash which was also excellent. Finished the evening w/the Bourbon Bread Pudding recommended by the Chef it was great! The service was awesome, friendly & accommodating.
Worth every penny. The crawfish gumbo and fried chicken were so delicious. Took advantage of restaurant week menu
We had a wonderful meal and great service! The fried chicken was amazing, as was the catfish and burger. Order anything - you’ll love it!
There are many things to love about this place, but the service and beignets are on the top of that list. The food is good and I’ve been here many times. The only reason I can’t give five stars is because the dishes aren’t balanced very well in terms of starch/sauce or sweet/salty. As a vegetarian, I appreciate that there are a few options for me on the menu already and that many other things can be modified to make them vegetarian - you just need to ask. I definitely recommend you try Big Jones. You won’t regret it.Important note on tipping: the restaurant adds a 20% service charge, but that doesn’t include tip for your waitstaff so make sure you still tip.
This was an amazing lunch choice from coworkers! The baked cheesy grits and the rooftop garden salad were more than enough to feel full. Hands down the most luxurious tasting salad I've had, and it really compliments the rich and creamy cheesy grits. Decor is cozy, service is friendly, and I'll definitely be coming back!
The best thing about the restaurant are the drinks. Otherwise, the options are fatty, often overpowering and poor tasting. Even the much talked about fried chicken is mediocre at best. But now the owners are adding a 20% charge to pay their employee costs and expect the customer to add a tip if one wants to the server. It is obvious that the waiters are not thrilled with the owners new policy. They now have to explain to the customer that the 20% surcharge does not go to them. This policy sounds like tip stealing and the customer is expected to make up what the wait staff loses. I won’t be back there despite the fact that some of my friends like the place. I can’t believe the greed embedded in that policy. But I for one refuse to 40% in order to leave a decent tip to the server.
