Joined my friend who had a reservation for dinner. They easily accommodated the extra person. We sat inside but I understand they have outside tables. Our waiter gave us enough time to have some conversation before ordering. They offer cocktails and wine. They apparently have a happy hour I'm sorry I missed. For dinner we shared a fennel salad and had two pasta entrees: cavatelli and rigatoni. We both were happy with the pasta and shared the salad. We order bread. The seed crackers that came with were so good! We got wine with dinner. Our waiter, Bar D, was excellent. He didn't intrude on us but was there when needed. All in all, a great night. Thank you, Acanto.
Great place! My friend and I were looking for a place to have some lunch after a Cubs game and while looking for Italian restaurants in Google this place appeared. The whole meal was great, I had a pasta and my friend had the beef filet perfectly cooked. Definitely a good place to have some lunch while visiting Chicago.
We had a really nice lunch here, sitting outside, across from the park. Delightful. The food was really good, creative, flavorful, and fresh. The service was great, they have a very friendly and efficient staff.
We stumbled on to Acanto, walking on Michigan Ave and perusing their menu. They offered many options for this low-carber, along with a list of intriguing wines. Our family members have various and competing dietary needs, that can make dining out a challenge. Acanto accomodated without blinking, bringing us the mussels with no meat,so we could share. Our dishes included veal chop, squid ink pasta, and a halibut on greens. All of us remarked on the freshness of the greens and heirloom tomatoes. (We are conscious of that, given our brother supplies some major chefs in the Chicago area.) Their Sommelier made an excellent suggestion of a white Italian wine, within our budget. And the best tiramisu ever. Go.
Great spaghetti with meat balls
Lunch at ACanto was superb. I had the tricolore salad and added chicken. The salad was delicious, huge, beautifully tossed with appropriate amount of dressing, ample âgood stuffâ (melon, fennel, cheese) and a huge perfectly cooked chicken breast (more than half I brought home to enjoy). My friendâs whitefish panini looked awesome too so I might order it the next time. Maggieâs service was exemplary-attentive but very respectful of our conversation and time. She definitively recommended my salad when I requested her opinion-she was right. She waited patiently for us to order and to pay and was readily available if we needed anything. Setting was perfect even though a very sunny day. Tables nicely spaced and lively plantings to separate tables from Michigan Avenue traffic. ACanto continues to be one of our very favorite spots for lunch and dinner.
The veal was amazing. I ordered the polenta with it and it was also outstanding!!
Excellent for foods since just perfect seasoning, saltiness, fresh, balanced. We had gone to other restaurants but some were too greasy and salty. Service was also excellent! It was our anniversary and my husband's birthday and we got free champagne glasses and put a candle on the desert. It was kind gesture!!
We were there two weeks ago on Memorial Day, the food is great, atmosphere is awesome with great ambience music. Our waiter is very professional and nice to us.Probably the Bruschetta and Tiramisu are my favorite there. :) will come back again.
A friend recommended this restaurant purely based on their Panna cotta dessert. I was happy to discovered that the rest of the menu is SUBLIME!!The frito Misto apperizer was unbelievable! We has the arancini - fried rice balls - that were the best I have ever had. I will come back to Acanto just for that dish!!I had the Rigatoni that was delicious and my dining companion had the veal Milanese. We, of course, ended our meal by ordering the Panna Cotta. It was, as my friend described, one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. The hostess was very engaging and friendly as well as the rest of the waiting staff.Highly recommend! If this is your first visit to Chicago this restaurant is a must if you love Italian food.It is right across Millenium Park and not fat from the Magnificent Mile. Reservations are a must as those in the know come here often!
