The best bar in Champaign by far. They have fantastic food, great drink deals (Ex. free logo glass with purchase of a beer on Wednesdays), and spectacular service. The bartenders are quick, friendly, and creative. Every time I go I have an amazing experience. Pictured are the Irish nachos and electric lemonade
Most laidback bar in Campustown by far. Nice mix of kids and those entering middle age. Cool crowd. Great place to be yourself.
Just not a fan of how the bar looks on the inside. Tables are always sticky. Pool table is absolutely garbage. But, the food and the deals they offer are worth getting my forearms sticky on occasion.
The burgers are delicious and affordable!
These are THE best burgers and fries on campus (or just about anywhere)! Great beer selection. Friendly staff. Trends toward 21+ undergrads, grad students, alumni, parents, and occasional faculty. Has remained wonderful for over 5 decades.
This place is unlike any other "bar" on campus. You can come in with your friends and build genuine connections. And thanks to their quick service I always had a cold drink to sip on. #OnlyBarForMe
We came to Champaign for the High School Basketball Finals. The bathrooms in this restaurant are disgusting. It looked liked they have never been cleaned. The food and service were less than average. If you are looking for a College bar to get hammered at then yes if you are a family going out to eat then definitely nope!
I would suggest that anyone who considers themselves a person of color to NOT go to Murphy’s bar #BringBrothersback. Last night was my first time going to Murphy’s and I was very disappointed with my experience there. When I attempted to get a drink at the bar, the bartenders consistently ignored me after multiple respectful attempts to get their attention. Eventually my friend was able to order a drink and just ordered my drink on my behalf but we were both standing at the bar for more than 30 minutes waiting to order a drink. Then as we were leaving the establishment, which was closed a hour and a half early due to them saying we’re “too rowdy”, a white gentleman who worked there was standing at the door, spit at my friend and attempted to hit her as we were leaving. This establishment showed multiple signs that they were racists and that they did not want people of color in their establishment.
Only if I can give them a 0 star rating! Me and my friends didn’t enjoy ourselves at all. We were called “rowdy” and they were not serving us drinks. The bar gave me racist vibes. Never will I ever go back. What a shame!
My experience at Murphys was terrible! To start, the bartenders were very rude and served people who weren’t of color first. Also, their location is supposed to close at 2am but decided to close at 12:30 am because they stated we were too “rowdy”. Black people having a good time is rowdy??? I am very disappointed and the racist acts the staff committed today is very discouraging and unacceptable. They also never made a formal announcement that they wanted us to leave, they continued to play this song called “closing time” and a song called “it’s time to go” to persuade us to leave. This establishment is extremely racist and if you consider yourself a person of color or not come to this bar!
