This place was great. Food was so good. I’m telling all my friends what I found.
Great Atmosphere and food.
Mole chicken wings were delicious. Mole itself was on a neutral side - not too spicy or sweet. The enfrijoladas were perfect. It’s my second time eating here and the servers always provide good service. Gotta give a shout-out to the person who picks the playlists- heard a lot of music from my teens and had me dancing in my chair while waiting for the food.
Great food and service! We will definitely be back to try other things!
WARNING: prices have been raised to a ridiculous amount. $17 for 3 basic traditional tacos. Nothing special about them at all, and honestly they were a pretty dry. I’ve never seen such prices before in my life, certainly not in Champaign. And for all that they only give you one small basket of chips to start ?Go to Huaraches if you want the best tacos in town, only $8.
Our family and friends have always considered Maize at the Station one of if not the best Mexican venues in CU. I am saddened to not be able to make that claim at this time. We visited the restaurant for dinner on a Saturday evening. Maize was busy but no wait for a table. Of the 7 attending, four had a house margarita, two beers and one did not have any alcohol. Service was at the best fair. Food was overall good but not great. The house margarita was very poor. Much to sweet and no tequila flavor detectable. The real surprise was a added 25% gratuity. I typically leave from 20-25% for good service. We were forced to pay 25% even thought he menu listed 20%. Based on the service we received 15% would have been a stretch. Bill was $27/head and one person did not have a entree. and no appetizers.
Authentic cuisine and excellent service. I came during mother’s weekend for lunch. It was fairly busy but we got seated right away. The server had serval tables but frequently checked in on us to make sure everything was going well. We ordered the salsa flight and I have to say I was impressed by the variety of chiles they used. I was initially a little disappointed by the amount of salsa by they made up for this by giving us a refill! By the time the entrees rolled around we were already pretty full. The food was hot and the flavors were as expected. I can only comment on the rice and beans because I went vegetarian that night but the flavor was spot on, complex and rich, not greasy or overly fatty. The sever made every effort to make sure we were satisfied. I plan on going back again to try their mole to get a better idea of their level of skill.
Good place for Mexican food! ??
Excellent cuisine. Many gluten free, vegan and dairy free options without sacrificing taste. Love the ambience in an old train station. Fajitas, both meat and vegan, are outstanding.
Amazing place to eat. 100% never miss when I can get there. Service is always great and you’ll get some of the best food you’ll ever eat. I’d give it 6 stars if I could
