Let me start off by saying I would have given 3.5 stars if it was an option. The atmosphere of this restaurant is good, the decor is on point for a western themed bar and grill. However the chairs were not very comfortable, and had a decent amount of play in the legs. The table would rock back and forth with only a small amount of force. As far as the food goes, I found both their homemade chips and fries to be seriously lacking on positives. The chips were cold and limp, neither of which I would usually use to describe chips, but that is the best way to describe them. The fries had a bit of a bitter taste to them, but were once again quite limp. The rest of the food was immaculate though. I had an Avalon Burger, and it was quite possibly one of the best burgers I have had in recent memory. They offer each of their burger and steaks options as either beef or bison, the latter being a slight upcharge. The food is honestly worth the price, but only the main dishes from what I experienced. If I return, I will try different menu items and update this review to reflect a wider array of items.
I ordered the regular cheeseburger that came looking more like a meatball on a large bun and was well done. I ordered medium. Spent $60 on 2 burgers, a wedge salad and 2 iced teas. Not worth it. We can all do better at our own grills! Gave 2 stars because our server was attentive until she delivered the food. My husband finally ate cold burger without mustard for the first time since I've known him. 38 years! Try another place. Not worth $18 for that burger.
I tried this place spontaneously with my husband and it was quite a surprise! Its a beautiful, large restaurant hidden in a corner of the promenade. I can say hands down we experienced some of the best customer service to date! The waiters were really attentive and quick which really added to the experience. It was our first time trying bison and, after confirming that the bison population is stable, I was down to give it a try! Its definitely less fatty and drier than beef but very similar. My husband had the filet and I had the green and hot burger. We both enjoyed our meals. My burger was a little oily and the sauce overpowered the taste of the bison. The filet was delicious but the sides were average. The onion rings are delicious because of how thick the onion is. If you like a larger breading to onion ratio, they’re definitely not for you! The fries were slightly over fried. The mango iced tea was surprisingly delicious! Overall, it was a great experience and I would return
Great Cucumber Pickles to start off. Steak was so tender I thought something was wrong. The Staff was amazing, kind and considerate of any and all requests. The price is high but reflects the quality of meal. 2 steak dinners, with 2 sides, and 2 drinks was $70 before tip.
Best bison steak ever! The bison Delmonico was amazing! Melted in your mouth with the most buttery flavor! We also had the bison meat loaf and it was amazing on a cold nite. Always great service! Their cocktail menu was also creative and tasty.
I was surprised how nice it is inside Ted’s. If you’re not a vegan or vegetarian it should work, but warning there is a bison head on the wall. I stopped eating meat during the pandemic but after two years wanted to test how I’d react to bison which is raise on a natural grass diet. The answer is fine. A small amount on a salad but it was fine. I would go again if near Chicago.
My wife and I visited here last night and everything was outstanding. She had the Bison filet with fresh baked asparagus and mashed potatoes, and I had the Bison short ribs with carrots and mashed potatoes and gravy. We also shared a bowl of the Bison chili and a house salad. I have nothing bad to say about a single item we ordered, the service was great. We had Eugene as a waiter and he did a fantastic job taking care of us especially considering how ridiculously busy the restaurant was for a Saturday night. I would recommend this establishment with no problem.
Great first experience!Met my cousin here for dinner early on a Friday evening! Our waiter was attentive and very friendly! They had table pickles waiting for us, which were yummy and something I had not seen before. The menu here has a nice variety, but is definitely themed towards fancier, western meals.I ordered their nightly special, grilled trout with sides of broccoli and kale salad, while my cousin ordered the Red Rock burger. They were brought out by the chef and both were delicious. Everything was seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly, and presented in nice portions.I really enjoyed my meal here and will be hoping to return next time I'm in the area!
This is the third time we have come here. The first 2 times were fantastic, so tonight for a birthday, we went to get a good steak dinner and were pretty disappointed in the experience. One of our steaks had to be sent back 2 different times to get cooked the way we asked (medium) because it was completely red and bloody the first and second time it was brought out. We didn't get any apology or anything for having to wait over a half hour for the steak to finally be done the correct way, while the other meal was already completed. Probably won't come back considering it was around $100 and we didn't even get to eat our meals together.
Ted's has always been delicious. And, service has always been top notch. Tonight was homemade chips, chili, mashed potatoes, broccoli, onion rings, and the bison ribeyes. everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. And, of course, their half sour pickles...the best.
