While staying overnight at the Greater Chicago Truck Stop, my husband & I, and our son (also a trucker) walked down to Denny's for dinner and it was well worth it ! The place was clean, our waiter was friendly, prompt and eager to serve, and the food was great ! I've grown fond of the 9 Grain Pancakes, which, in my opinion, can be eaten with or without syrup because the flavor is just that good and the portion size leaves me one to eat later ! I would definitely go to this Denny's again if back in the area.If I had to pick a downside, it would be the small bathroom, but that's not enough to lose any stars over because well, if you're there for the bathrooms then you're there for the wrong reason to begin with, lol !!!
We came in at like 2 am and it was one guy and one cook but that guy was so plesant and the food was good. There were orders for pickup coming in constantly too. That one guy in charge at 2 am this Tuesday is the reason for my 5 star rating, even though everything was slow it wasn't their fault, it was super busy and obviously a little short staffed at that moment.
Teasia was very nice and extremely patient . My boss called when we were eating. I had to step out for a second. I can back a minute or two later and She came back to the table and asked if we were ready she didn’t make it seem like we inconvenienced her. Appreciated her kindness
They are not 24 hours. They currently open at 6:30am and usually close at 10:30pm. They don't value safety of their workers and customers because when 1 customer threatened an employee and other customers they did not do anything except call the police and when I went back the next day because I was a regular that person was there also. Horrible management. I recommend just buying groceries with the money you would spend going to this location.
Our waiter Gus was one of the best waiters we have had in a long time. I must say we have been to some places that they would say are fine dining and Gus made us feel like we were at one of the best establishments around. Impeccable service!
The outside gives the impression of a run down and out-of-date restaurant which second guesses the mind. But don't let it deter you from the nicest looking interior I've ever seen from a Denny's which reminds me of an actual traditional diner. After I was seated, the waitress was kind and when I got my food it was possibly the best breakfast experience I've had. The hashbrowns were crispy and cooked perfectly, the eggs, bacon, and sausage were decent but most of all the pancakes were the star. Fluffy and light, they'll fill you up satisfyingly when paired with the rest of the meal. Come here if you wish to have a great meal with friends or by yourself..
Mmmm chicken biscuits bowl. Is delicious. Team members are also great.
I had an awful experience picking up an online order. I waited almost 30 minutes past the stated order ready time. I had to ask the server to provide syrup and butter foe the pancakes I ordered only to discover when I got back she failed to include the pancakes. I went back to complain and get the two orders of pancakes. She originally wanted to give me the ones she left sitting in the window which I declined because they were now cold. She then only have me two pancakes instead of the two orders and didn't seem to understand why I was upset that she got our order wrong. We will never eat here again.
Went here at 11pm to get ice cream because it is advertised as 24/7. Sit down with menus that advertise ice cream. When we try to order guy tells us that they don’t serve ice cream at night. WHY!? Makes no sense. Advertise it but then can’t serve ice cream what the big deal? So it’s not acceptable to serve customers ice cream at night but it’s ok for a guy to smoke a joint right outside the entrance. Kinda screwed up priorities. Guess the waiter doesn’t like tips.
Had the sausage omelet. Really good. About eleven o'clock in the evening. Traditional Denny's. Behind the shell station. A step back in time. Loved it.
