Small diner, very basic and unassuming, the type of place we prefer. Service was very good. Tortilla chips served right away with fresh salsa (hot and spicy). Chicken flautas were okay and chicken tortas was really good. Refried beans were bland and watery. They serve beer, no wine, and margaritas in a can.
This is the midwest equivalent of robertos ( west coast). The breakfast burrito was really good and the Carne Asada was cooked perfectly! The salsa was way too spicy for me but my husband said it was fire!
Tacos were good, I thought the pastor was the best. Salsa was good, pretty spicy. The chips didn’t taste very good.
Best tortas and overall Mexican food in Bloomington Normal. Fresh and I really mean always fresh and homemade. Aguas frescas = refreshing water based drinks like Horchata, Jamaica and agua de tamarindo. So fire and the girls in the front are awesome!
Food is authentic and staff is friendly. So authentic they even have quilacoche (corn must) and calabesas (squash blossom) for quesadilla fillings. Flour quesadilla tortillas appear to be handmade.
We are visiting Normal/Bloomington and looked up the options for the best Mexican restaurant in the area. We picked this place as it had good ratings. We are vegetarian and our son is vegan. There were not much vegetarian options on the menu so we spoke to the attendant who gave us over half a dozen options and the food was served quickly. The flavor was authentic and ingredients were fresh. We enjoyed our meal and will recommended it to anyone who is looking for tasty and fresh Mexican food in the area. I am sure their non-vegetarian food is as good. The staff was very cooperative and everyone we met, looked very happy. I am sure rhey are well taken care of by the owners.
Absolutely phenomenal. Love the food, the experience, the staff is friendly and helpful. I love finding small spots and restaurants that showcase a genuineness and care that a lot of big places don't--this is one of those places. Cannot wait to come back.
Never been to a really mexican restaurant. And I can 100% say this is authentic. It's so good!!! Service is excellent, food phenomenonal. Couldn't recommend it more to be honest!
So get this the food is actually very good. Service is consistently bad. Constantly get rude vibes from the women working there.I won’t be back Vera Cruz has better food, service and is more welcoming.
Very simple dining room, but the star here is the food! Amazing guacamole, delicious tacos (al Pastor, chorizo, chili relleno, tongue (which was insanely tender!) Had the speciality bowl if mixed meats, salsa, cheese, vegetables and grilled cactus ? Only downfall is no room for a bar so margaritas are canned and corn tortillas didn't taste like they were made that day. (I'm in Mexico constantly, so I know the difference in flavor) Food is incredible and service was fantastic!
