Visited Ancho and Agave in Bloomington last night with our travel baseball team from Northern Illinois. Nice young lady that worked downtown in a shop recommended it. Wow! I am a Mexican food snob and this place blew me away! Best authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had! Tasty drinks, absolutely fresh guacamole and salsa! Don’t pass up the enchilada’s!!! Fantastic! Superior! Wish there was one closer to the IL/WI border! Lauren was our server and she was fabulous! Didn’t miss a beat splitting checks, changing orders or refilling drinks! Thanks Lauren!!! We’ll be back!

Not at all handicapped observant. We called and were told that there was no wait. We arrived 10 minutes later and were told that we could sit at a high top table or outside but not in one of the low tables or booths. There were 16 available low tables. I am unable to sit outside or at a high table due to being in a wheelchair right now. They told us that it would be a 40 minute wait. The servers could only serve us if we sat outside or at a high table . In my life, I have never seen a more insensitive stupid thing. I go to Ancho once per week but their insensitivity to my disability was unbelievable. I’m not sure any person with a disability should go there at all.

I am blown away by how amazing this restaurant is! The food and the service were top notch! Alexa was an amazing waitress. As far as the food goes, we didn’t have a bite we didn’t like. But, go for the coconut shrimp appetizer and the Armstrong queso appetizer. As a man from Texas, I know a good queso when I find one. We also got the tacos and the Kung Pao and Chicken Asada were our favorites. For dessert, the tres leches and churros are delicious. 5 stars!! We will definitely be back.

I recently had lunch here with some co-workers. Everyone that had been there before only had good things to say about the food. Now I can see why! I had the Smoked Pork Belly Quesadilla, and the flavor was amazing. Portion size was great. I think most of us cleaned our plates but left stuffed. My co-workers enjoyed their Taco Salads and Street Tacos, and the chips and salsa on the table was excellent too. Highly recommend this restaurant. It wasn't too busy for lunch on a Thursday, but it sounds like you need reservations for dinner.

Wonderful atmosphere and excellent margaritas. Our waitress was friendly, but she disappeared to bartend just before we got our food, and we had to eventually ask the manager for our bill (no one else came by).The food was overall pretty mediocre. We got a few tacos and some fajitas. All the fajita meat and veggies were burnt to the plate, and the tacos were nothing special and pretty small.Would recommend this for drinks and maybe some appetizers, but that's about it. Sit at the bar if you want prompt service.

I would recommend, as always, except being there a couple of weeks ago, our black bean soup was like it was poured from a can, not prepared with other ingredients as in the past, and cold. Sent it back to be reheated and still cool. I will not recommend ordering your black bean soup unless it starts getting prepared again and cooked. Next time I’ll get the shrimp appetizer. When you first opened, the soup was delicious. Now, it seems an afterthought.

Couldn't get a table without a reservation at 3pm on Sat. Sat at bar - staff was attentive for first half hour. 2 diff bartenders made me 2 diff tasting Pina- Rita's. Salsa, guacamole & Armstrong dip were all just ok. Taquitos & coconut shrimp were awesome. Atmosphere & decor were nice. But, if you want good Mexican food go to Herradura.
