I’ve been going to the Chinatown location for decades and it’s always been a nice experience. I am happy to say that the Naperville location is also very well run with authentic sichuan dishes as well as lots of fan favorites of Chinese food. As usual I recommend the kung pao chicken or the dry chili chicken as well as a lot of the classics such as Dan Dan noodles.
Pick up order was quick, food was better quality than a cheap takeout restaurant. Prices are a bit high though.Tad bit pricey for some dishes but food is definitely very good and worth it! General Tso was amazing, perfect ratio of vegetables to meat, good mild spice, and of course plenty of chicken. Eaten fresh, the chicken had a nice gentle crisp on the outside that you won't get from other places where the chicken sits/is premade. Vegetables didn't taste like low quality takeout ones either, they were fresh and flavorful. Egg drop soup had a nice, thick consistency, but you'll need to add more flavor to your liking (spicy sauce or pepper flakes, soy sauce), otherwise it'll appear bland and have a thick oil consistency. The corn in the soup was a lovely twist and very interesting. Cooking time was quick as well! The manager was friendly.
We had a party of 14 and the crew was more than accommodating. There are so many Chinese restaurants in the area. Lao Sze is a must try. All the food came out in a timely fashion and ohh that lazy Susan was awesome to use. Ambience- was a Warm and inviting look. Nicely decorated in a modern Asian theme. Clean place overall. Menu- is extensive a very good selection. I would definitely come back again
This place was great! My boyfriend and I came here for the first time tonight. Staff was friendly and helpful in choosing items. We got the pork potstickers (amazing with the spicy chili oil), fried rice with sausage and shrimp & Szechuan chicken to share. It all tasted amazing and the portions are huge (at a reasonable price) so we were able to split it and get multiple servings plus take some home. We will definitely be back!
Worst experience ever at a restaurant! My Business partner and I went to this restaurant for lunch. I’ve never Eaten at this restaurant before but my business partner has!! Told the lady that the food didn’t taste good, she automatically got mad and took the plates away. Asked for the check when she came back with the receipt she stood there waiting for us to get up! We were going to leave a Tip regardless because I know it’s not the waiters fault! But she was too much! So we didn’t!!! She took the tray that the recipe comes on & thru it hard at the front registers!! This is my business partner from another state and we were not pleased.
Excellent food every time
Lao Sze Chuan really is the best Chinese restaurant in the area. Family run, very friendly staff, the food is delicious & fresh, large portions, bigger variety than other restaurants (such as Dry Chili ? Chicken that I have only seen in China Town, Duck Lo Mein, Lamb with Pure Cumin), and reasonable prices. Traditional items are also very good, like General Tao’s Chicken, Orange Chicken & Broccoli Chicken, and the chicken in the first two was exceptionally tender & juicy.Family friendly, and great for larger groups with round tables that seat 10, and built in lazy Susan.
My wife and I tried this place on our trip to Chicago. Possibly best Chinese I've ever had. Served in a great atmosphere. Service was excellent and they even gave us rice togo with our left overs.
Amazing food. A little pricey, but worth the money. Ask if a dish has peanuts, the menu doesnt specify.
The lady who runs place has ZERO courtesy towards customers. Even though they send a wrong order. Cocky to another level .. living on past glory. The quality of food that was advertised was during glory days of this chain. No where close to the quality when it started in down town Chicago. There are better local options than Lao .. I would avoid this place at all cost. Beware of this lady who is entitled and thinks she is doing you a favor by you paying her for the food. Sad but True !
