Chicago’s gem of fast food. While the prices may be a tad higher than other franchises, the difference in food taste and quality is remarkable. Smiling staff and the antique feel of the place create a cozy environment where you feel welcomed in. After eating here for years, I have only had one small issue, to which the manager responded very kindly and professionally with. A must-try if you aren’t from the area.
It was my first time at this location of Portillo’s. My expectations were high because I know that Portillo’s never disappoints when it comes to the service, the food, and everything else. My expectations were met after I ate inside and I got to see how clean the place was. The interior of Portillo’s is unique to any restaurant around, and it really feels nice which is something casual and very comfortable. The service, as I expected, was also nice, although the food took longer. The restaurant is also very busy, which is why it took longer for me to get my food, but when it comes to the staff, I would say that they are very friendly and accommodating. I just got some hot dogs, fries and a drink and all of it was good, perfectly cooked and tasting really delicious. Their food is definitely the best that they offer because, first of all, they have a wide and varied selection on their menu. Second, the prices are fair and reasonable. Lastly, and most importantly, their food is of the highest quality. It is good comfort food that has a delicious taste. I highly recommend this restaurant for delicious food and good service that is worth every penny.
I could not look for an available space in the parking lot or nearby, so I had no choice but to go for the drive through. The line on the drive through is long. I really wanted to eat inside after seeing the long line, but I really had no choice, and I also assumed that the inside was packed full and busy too. The line is long and it is also moving very slowly. This is probably my longest time staying in line at this restaurant’s drive through. It had been a particularly hectic day for them. The staff were even polite and friendly when it was my turn. I had to wait too long to order, and waiting makes me hungry, even if I wasn't hungry before going to the restaurant, so I ordered a lot, including the Italian beef sandwich, cheese fries, a slice of chocolate cake, and a drink. It is good that I did not wait too long to get my food. It was served quickly, minutes after I ordered it. The food I eat is all fresh and hot. I started with the Italian beef sandwich because it is my favorite dish at the restaurant and it never disappoints. It tastes fresh, hot and definitely delicious. There was plenty of beef, just the way I liked it. The cheese fries are also the bomb, and they are so good. One of the most delicious fries I've ever had Lastly, the chocolate cake, which is also one of the best they had, deserves to be one of the best because it is also delicious.
Service was pretty fast inside although they had a long and busy drive-thru. All of the food was fresh, hot and tasty. The staff were upbeat and friendly.The bathroom could have used a little attention, but not horrible. From where we were sitting, we could see multiple people pacing around the desert counter for quite a bit and getting frustrated. If you don't have enough staff to cover that counter, there should be a sign instructing customers to go to the main counter. Also, the handicap spaces were constantly filled by delivery drivers, running in to grab orders off the rack by the door. This is horrible to witness as elders with a cane hobble in from mid-parking lot, as 20 somethings dash in and out taking those spots by the door.
Awesome food! I had the hot dog my husband had a burger both were perfect! We had fries as well and they were hot and crispy, perfect! My husband had the chocolate malt and he said it really good. I had three chocolate cake shake/malt, if you never had it, I highly recommend trying it. A+
Come here if you want to wait for 30 min to get your order made inside and then get it cold and the order is screwed up.And then witnessed the manager take our drinks that were sitting for 25 min home with her at the end of her shift
Literally 70% of the time I go to this location they mess up my order. This time I got a large ball of blue cheese, think golf ball size, and the beef I asked for baptized was completely dry. They even confirmed it when handing me the bag. At this point it's just ridiculous. I understand things can get crazy, but this time I got my food at 9pm when it wasn't even busy. People were nice though ?
Friday, 3/4/22 Entered drive through at 9:56p and got my food at 10:48p. There were approximately 10 cars ahead of me when I pulled up. My car was just past the main entrance. Naturally, the order was was not even close to accurate. The female manager was competent and helpful in resolving. Food was good. Free cake for the trouble. I’d be aware of Friday night drive through there. One man behind me started himself on fire and locked the doors.
Second time in over a month I ordered from here. Last time ordered cheese fries with cheesy beef and didn’t receive the cheese. Stuff happens I let it go. Today ordered a beef & cheddar croissant with no pepper and cheese fries. Got cheese fry's right but sandwich wrong and with peppers. Got credit for sandwich on DoorDash but had to reorder that and fries since they would have been cold by tine redelivered. So had to eat alone and getting right order ultimately costed me $2. More. Bigger things in world to worry about but I will be ordering from other places in the future
I always get this food. For me personally it’s amazing. However, my best friend CAN NOT have gluten AT ALL due to celiac. She ordered a meal which was promised to be gluten free and right now she’s brutally sick because clearly cross contamination was not practiced enough here. This is a serious thing. People can die from this. Please do better next time and teach your employees the seriousness of this. This is not ok at all. Not a safe place for those with gluten issues!
