As a fellow Malaysian, I am disappointed.First, the food is not authentic. None of the curry dishes had curry flavor. They simply use chili oil to make it spicy and use it for all their curry dish. Yes they are spicy but not curry spicy. I did not get the Malaysian feel at all. Nasi Lemak ... it looked good but the sauce they used was "sad." They are trying to use the sauce to cover the fact that the fried chicken was not seasoned and over cooked. The dried fish also had no taste. Again, if you have ever been to Malaysia, you know it is not authentic.Worst of all, they lost the Malaysians' hospitality. Even if I complained about the food, they refused to do anything. In contrast, the owner would keep words in my mouth and accused me this and that. I have informed two different servers that the curry was too spicy for my friend's to eat. The server simply informed me that they pre made the curry, nothing they could do. But at the end, the owner accused me lying and put the blame on me.I am ok to pay for the food I do not like. But I have an issue of being accused as a liar if I have done all I could. I will never go back to this restaurant as I do not like the food. Most importantly, I will not give them a second chance to hurt my dignity, I deserve respect.

On Saturday, July 2nd, my friends and I decided to try the Penang Malaysian Cuisine Restaurant. My friends were from Malaysia and I myself had visited there numerous times, so we thought we would give it a try. Years ago, we had visited the Penang Malaysian Restaurant when it was in Chinatown (downtown Chicago), and loved it, so we were excited to give this location a try. Upon arrival, we were seated and given our menus. Being from Malaysia, my friends wanted to try "traditional" Malaysian cuisine and ordered a variety of dishes. For purposes of keeping this review short, I will only comment on a few items. The satay chicken we ordered was simply ok. The chicken was dry and thank goodness, there was peanut sauce to dip it into. I made the mistake of ordering items with curry, because I love Malaysian curry. The Roti Cana was simply not edible. All you could taste in the curry was the HOT spicy oil and no curry flavor or any other flavor. I believe the cook may have received his cooking experience in Szechuan food. If you like ONLY hot spicy flavor you may like it. When I tried to ask the waitress if they could either replace the curry dishes I had ordered, she said they were made in the morning and all are the same. My friends asked if they could add some curry flavor, water, coconut milk or anything to improve the dish and she just walked away, disappearing. About 10 minutes later, a gentleman appears with a pitcher of water. We explained to him about the curry and the quality of flavor in all the other dishes and he kind of slipped away into the kitchen not to be seen again. A few more minutes passed and a lady appeared and once again, we asked if it were possible to fix the dishes so that they were edible. Yes, you guessed it, she disappeared, not to be seen. Having enough, we decided to simply "suck-it-up" and pay the bill for the food we could not and did not eat , leave and go elsewhere for an enjoyable meal. We had to "flag-down" an employee and ask for our check. Waiting another 5-10 minutes, we decided to simply go to the cash register and request the check. The check finally came as we were at the register. The lady at the cash register must have been either the manager or the owner. She asked how the food was and we proceeded to tell her about the food and that it was not edible and that the service was terrible. She asked why we did not say anything to the wait staff. Hmmmm, we told 3 persons about the food and NONE of them cared whatsoever, and, gee, you were 1 of those persons. HELLO, don't test my intelligence and don't treat your customers in this fashion. If it were possible, I would give this place a "0". This is definitely the worse food I have ever tried to eat.

Always a good time here. We had some amazing Malaysian food and the staff was good. Will defiantly come back for more.

I'm here now, half capacity, open tables, and super hungry. My family came here 40 minutes ago, still don't have our order. I want to support local but goodness.

What happened to this place. Let me just start by saying that the food itself was pretty delicious. However, that's about the only good thing I experienced. We had a reservation for 10 as soon as they opened and we waited 10 minutes for them to get set up. There was no other customers. We then waited another 15 mins be served for them to take our order. Meanwhile, another family came after us and were served first. After our server took our order, we waited close to 30-40 minutes to get our food, while the other large family of 8-10 got their food before us even though they arrived after we us.I also forgot to mention that the whole place was leaking and had random buckets on the ground to catch the water. The walls were also filthy, all roughed up needing a new coat of paint. The whole experience was just bad, luckily when the food came out, it was still pretty good. I do hope they get some more help and renovate the place.

I have passed this place for ten years and after trying to eat at two sushi places that were closed for some reason, we finally ended up here. I liked the layout and the decor. The food however, ... was awesome ?. I found something new that I had never heard of, beef Rendang. I loved it.My wife and son had a great Pad Thai and a good sized bowl of wonton soup with some spring rolls.I will not drive by again with getting my rendang fix.

WOW! We have just fallen in love. My husband and I ordered takeout and were blown away by the food. The star of the show goes to Char Kway Teow - so smoky, so balanced, so easy to enjoy. This is a must try if you haven’t had it already!Next time, we’ll order two of the Char Kway Teow, cuz it is far too delicious to share and you’ll want leftovers!Second runner(s) up: A tie between the Tom Yum Noodle soup & the Penang Har Mee soup. Both were so flavorful, packed with veggies and seafood and each with a unique flavor profile that can only come from a kitchen that lovingly invests time into their own authentic broths. The Tom Yum Noodle soup is also different from that which you might expect at a Thai restaurant- this one has more of a fresh tomato base that is rich and light at the same time. The Penang Har Mee is more similar to a Jambong (Korean soup) with a smoky flavor but a deep crab broth base. Spicy, so it will catch you at the back of your throat, but so worth it!Nasi Lamak - I haven’t had this dish as much, so I can’t really judge. My Korean husband loved it, and my favorite part (we only sampled cuz it was too much food to eat a lot) is the fried anchovies- so perfectly crispy and salty!!!We will definitely be back!! Highly recommend.

I have been coming here for years and years and it is consistently great. I genuinely love the atmosphere as well as the waitstaff that we've come to know and care for. Throughout the pandemic I have seen them be diligent about following guidelines and keeping their restaurant very clean.Deep, rich flavors and a good ambience makes this place a winner in my book.

One of the best Malaysian food in this local area. Every dishes we ordered had its own flavor and the prices were acceptable. We had a great meals here.

Halal chicken & lamb, authentic flavors and some dishes I've never had stateside! Would come back to try other things on the menu. Roti canai and nasi lemak were favorites among what we tried, char kway teow was also good. Mee goreng was ok.
