We heard about Montarra from a show called check please. We made reservations and the receptionist asked if we were celebrating a special occasion to which I replied yes it is our 58th wedding anniversary. We had two appetizers, drinks, entrees and dessert. The food was absolutely outstanding. You don't mind paying these prices when you get good quality. The waitress was a different story. After wishing us a happy anniversary there was no conversation between us. I noticed the waiter serving the other two tables with much pleasant give and take with the patrons. As we get our check I over heard the waiter telling them how he had comped them there appetizers or bar drinks. I wasn't aware that this was in honor of a special occasion until I heard the conversation. If that is what the restaurant does for two customers than everyone celebrating should get the same treatment.
Mother's Day dinner out. Haven't been to Montarra in years. They lost our reservation, but seated us anyway. That was the first of several issues with our visit. Then seated outside in the Covid tent. Which was fine, we were happy to have a table. But the floor was so unstable every time somebody walked by our table one side of it shot up in the air and almost spilled our drinks. We just laughed, but they need to either stabilize the floor or stop serving out there. Our poor waitress could barely put the tray of food on the tray stand because the floor was moving. No joke. The service from our waitress was good, she was hustling. But the service from the bar and kitchen were not good. SLOW. Drinks were good. Bread was good. Bouillabaisse was outstanding. Chicken dish with Risotto was solid. My wife's steak came out cold. Like cold to the touch. At $52 for a NY Strip that's inexcusable. Then our waitress was in another zip code probably waiting for another order for a long time before we could get my wife's dish corrected and she could eat her Mother's Day dinner. Thing is we love this place, and once corrected, the steak was excellent. They hopefully were just having a bad night. But at these prices they can't afford to have bad nights or people won't come back. We, however, will be back to give them another shot. They comped one of our martini's for the cold steak. That was a nice gesture, we didn't ask for anything. I still think it's one of the best "special occasion" restaurants in the area. For the price it's not a regular stop unless price doesn't matter.
Wonderful experience. Great upper scale restaurant. Had so many things that it was hard to pick. Can't wait to go back and try others items on their menu.
Dark, moody vibe.Elegant higher end restaurant.Excellent attention from Pam who was friendly, professional and on point in every way along with the entire staff.Support staff, another lady, asked me if I wanted a box as she took away the rest of my dishes including utensils. As she walked away I thought, I should have kept my fork. No worries because this lady brought a brand new fork with my container. (Now that is attention to details.)Every thing was delicious; shitake toast, beef tips and scallops as well as the drinks. I had the Spring Fever.A true hidden gem lost in the sea that is Randall Road. Look for it. We will definitely return and I recommend this restaurant 100%.
Outstanding!!!Crab-Stuffed MushroomsGrilled AsparagusCaramelized Jumbo ScallopsChilean Sea BassIt was all excellent. More specifically... The way the spinach, arugula, polenta, sea bass, walnuts and sauce all melted into one fantastic bite after another...unreal.
Went for a friends birthday. Drinks and food were delicious. Very attentive server and had time to relax and enjoy. We had sea bass and salmon and both were delicious. My only complaint is that we were charged for the birthday dessert
I just love coming here. Boyfriend and I came here for our first date and then came back for Valentine’s Day this year. It was decorated so beautifully and is very romantic! I had one of the best French Onion soups I’ve ever had this weekend but really everything was so good.
The food was exceptional, as always! The staff is attentive and accommodating. The kitchen prepared a foie gras appetizer for me, even though it was not on the menu that evening. The dinner was just what we needed to lift our spirits!
We both had the Boursin stuffed filet with mushrooms. It was excellent. We also had the fresh goat cheese croquettes as an appetizer which we enjoyed. We tried some of the martinis and they did not disappoint, especially the dessert snickers martini. We had excellent service and will be back.
Love the complexity of flavors!!!!The room we were in was spacious and on the quieter side. We had 5 in our party and shared some delectable small plates then went for mouth watering entrees. The whole table was moaning over the food. Their specialty steak was Moan worthy & the next day our 7 year old audibly exhaled is joy when we mentioned the Mac and Cheese. So, kid approved. Service was on the ball and our drinks were always full.Highly recommend!
