Food was great but service was slow. Perhaps due to short staff.
We had reservations and gave ourselves plenty of time before our concert, yet we were late to the concert because the food took over an hour to be brought to us. Keep in mind I had the sliders (which must have sat under the heat lamps because they were super dry) and the other person had a pasta dish with no meat. Once we have the waiter our card, after reminding him we were in a hurry now, it took 20 minutes to bring them back. Very disappointed this time around.
Staff were overwhelmed probably due to being short-staffed. Food took a while to arrive but was good when it did. Our server was great but just very busy. The most disturbing thing was the state of the bathrooms. Used paper towels were all over the floor because the garbage was overflowing and both soap dispensers were empty. I didn't want to think about what the cooks and other employees were doing since there was no soap :( Overall, our experience wasn't bad and I know many restaurants are struggling with being short staffed so I can disregard that issue. The food was good but the bathrooms were terrible.
Loved our waiter. He explained all our choices well. The food came out S-L-O-W!! Luckily we were having a great conversation with our friends ⦠when we could hear them because itâs noisy in there!! Love the food, but wish the volume could be turned down.
Sushi roll one person in our party ordered came out in reasonable amount of time. We then waited for over an hour for our entrees. Waitress said repeatedly âsorry the kitchen is backed upâ. We were starving and then noticed the table behind us got served their food. Our entrees were fried rice and several orders of the shrimp tacos. Shrimp tacos had a small amount of tiny shrimp that looked like salad shrimp and were gritty with the sand vein still inside showing they were not properly cleaned. Gross. We were there over two hours total and I left still hungry.
Birthday celebration
Music was so loud it felt like a club, our server took almost 10 min to greet us, 10 min to get our drinks and then 15 min to take our order. Food took almost an hour to get and the kids food was ice cold.
We didnât get any service or drinks for at least 20 mins after we sat down. Then it was another hour to hour and half before we received our meal. No top offs on drinks until our meal was almost over. There was no miso or char on sea bass and vegetables were watered down and oily on top of that. Worst experience at Kona and I wonât be going back.
Great food, service and ambience. On a nice night the patio is great.
