It's a 4.4..., but I'll round up to 5. Not as good as the other location on Glenwood. They're Al Pastor had great sauce and flavor, but the meat was too soft. Al pastor Just not as good as Andrades on Overland or El Diablo in Emmet... and not nearly as good as the Al Pastor at Metztli on Chinden. Same goes for Chorizo-flavor was just not the best. However the atmosphere is good and the service was great. Other tacos are also pretty good.I am judging them hard because the Idaho Statesman recently voted El Gallo Giro as the best taco in the valley. I say the one on Glenwood is probably #2 behind just one other establishment, but as this restaurant bears the same name as the #1, they should taste pretty close. Good, but not the #1 taco in my opinion.
I'm hard to impress when it comes to restaurants anymore but this is my top Mexican restaurants in the valley. I love the atmosphere, the people always have the best energy and they are constantly on top of it, it's clean and the food.... the food is so yummy! ? keep up the amazing work and thank you for still knowing what customer service and great food is!!
Have been disappointed with their food more than once now. Thought I’d give them another chance. Poor service, food not very good. The chips were over cooked or old and had a burnt taste to them, refried beans were very runny, and the guacamole we ordered arrived after we had finished eating but they still charged us for it. Most of the people in our group complained of digestive issues later. We won’t be back again, very disappointed.
EXPIRED SODA. I door dashed from this location and shortly after eating and drinking the Diet Coke I began throwing up. The soda was expired and that’s the only thing I could think of as to why I felt sick all of a sudden. It was only by a week, but I don’t think an establishment should be serving expired anything. Also the food is super bland and soggy. The chicken tacos didn’t have too much flavor. I ordered two sides of rice for $7 and the portions were so small and the rice tasted like saw dust, or something similar, very weird taste. The guac was good BUT for $5 the portion is crazy small. Probably won’t be ordering from here again. ***Please be careful eating here, $44 wasted only to immediately throw it up.
First off, this place used to be 4.5-5 stars but they have completely turned their attitude around.Came here as used to be a favorite of ours. Got our food fairly quick but rice and beans were not hot or warm. One of our dishes, the enchiladas, were not warm either. When that was pointed out, they stated they would remake it. When it came back it was the same plate of food, just microwaved. When asked, that's how they warm food up. They microwave their food. Lost a lot of love for this place and most likely won't be back till something changes.
We have been going to ElGallo since they opened in Meridian a few years ago. I love that we know everyone working there and they know us. We are always treated just like family! We love it so much that we are there weekly most times. They have the best Gallorita Margaritas, the best Fajitas, Molcajete, etc! They are always willing and able to accommodate a large party on short notice when we have friends and family parties! Our family can't recommend ElGallo Girro enough! Lucio, Marian and Hugo always take the best care of us! ? Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name?. P.S. The rest of the staff there are fabulous too!
Excellent food! This is my favorite taco place, and the atmosphere is so friendly and open.
Great food, service, and drinks! Micheladas are excellent!
Super friendly people there. Great service and great food. Daily specials are worth checking out. Love the colorful Mexican atmosphere.
My husband and I tried dining here on Friday. There was a “Please Wait to Be Seated” sign at the entrance, so we waited. And waited. And waited. A girl finally walks up (I’m not sure if she was the hostess or a buser or what), points to an open booth and says, “Do I have to walk you over there? And I’m assuming you want menus?” Kind of thrown, we walk to the booth and she throws menus at us and runs away. This table was filthy - there was food and trash all over it. She runs up again with chips and salsa, sees our disgusted faces, and asks, “Oh, did you want the table wiped down or something?” We got up and left at that point. We’ve been going to the El Gallo Giro location on Glenwood for years and it’s always been amazing food and service, and it’s CLEAN. I’d stay away from this location unless you want to be served in a filthy restaurant by rude staff.
