A birthday dinner at the Sandpiper in Idaho Falls left me with food poisoning. I would absolutely not recommend the salmon. Unfortunately, when advising the Sandpiper of the incident they could not even muster a polite "We're sorry".

I went for dinner around 7pm. Service and drinks were good! My go to dish is the blackend tuna with a side of alfredo. The tuna was outstanding, but the pasta was lack-luster. The taste at first was fine, but HOLY NUTMEG. It tasted like the whole spice container fell into it, with it being so strong the other guests at my table noticed it. I brought it to my server's attention, which she agreed and had the cooks remake it. The second round was better, but the aftertaste of the nutmeg still made me send it back. Overall good experience, but DO NOT get the pasta.

Best clam chowder ever! And that walleye was amazing too. Thanks for feeding me tonight

Really good food! First time eating there and had the best waiter. Husband got the prime rib and said it was the best he's ever had. I got the Halibut and steak combo with asparagus. It was so good!

Megan is the greatest. Always treated like royalty. Food was cooked to perfection.

Karter was absolutely amazing! Thank you for making our evening so enjoyable! We have never had such attentive service.?

Friendly staff, nice view by the river. All the flavors in the food were on the stronger side... Very garlicky mashed potatoes, strongly seasoned french fries, lots of pepper in the clam chowder. The food was good but the seasonings were a bit on the strong side for our group. Also, happy hour is now only a Friday thing (another reviewer had posted a happy hour menu that showed it as 6 days a week... This is no longer the case.)

It is not the place it was 40 years ago. It might as well be an Outback. I am no longer impressed and the prices you would think you are eating at a fine dining experience in a large scale metropolitan area. Not worth the money and it is dingy and dark. I gave it three stars for what it used to be. I believe it is time to modernize this place and they should have done it during the pandemic.

Had the clam chowder and grilled salmon. Huge disappointment overall. The chowder was thick and pasty and not in a good way, like wall paper paste and doughy (like the roux had not been fully cooked). The salmon dish was way over cooked and hard. The fish wouldn’t even flake and the overall preparation was under-seasoned. Would not recommend or go back.

*skip to the bottom for dining recommendations *The sandpiper is probably the finest dining you can experience in Idaho falls. The sandpiper makes amazing seafood, and steaks with great sides and a great atmosphere. I noticed a lot of people complained about the wait time it took to get their food. You have to remember this is fine dining where the food is made and cooked to order! This is not fast food or a chain like Texas road house. They spend a lot of time prepping the food they serve before opening for dinner service, and they run out of food because it’s made each day. With that out of the way let’s talk about the food. My wife and I visited for our second wedding anniversary and we’re not disappointed!! I got the rack of lamb which was cooked perfectly (med rare) and tasted absolutely delicious. The clam chowder is incredible!! My wife got the surf and turf with the halibut which she highly recommends. Overall the sandpiper is a great spot for some unique delicious food with a great atmosphere. It’s a bit expensive but you get what you pay for! What we loved:Rack of lamb (med rare)SteakHalibutClam chowderThe house saladHuckleberry lemonadeSpinach artichoke dipWhat was “meh”Cheese cake left a lot to be desired for the price.
