Nothing beats breakfast at Garnet! They recently moved locations from their quaint little place to a bigger, diner-style place. It still has all the charm from the eclectic decor and signs. This place also has a really eclectic menu, and makes sure to offer several vegetarian and vegan options. Their food is super reasonably priced, and so are their drinks! Make sure to get one of their fun mimosas, they are so good!
I had heard so many good things about this place so I figured we would give it a try. I was so optimistic and sadly so let down. The service was rough. I understand everyone has bad days and maybe our server was having one. It just took a very long time before we were offered anything to drink, and if we wanted a refill that wouldn't happen as we were only checked on once when the food was dropped off. The food was just ok. Our bread was pretty soggy on the sandwiches and very dry. Maybe we will Try again for breakfast but I was just not impressed.
I'm so sad to write this but our meal this morning was pretty bad. All four of us had issues with our meals being luke warm (mine was barely that). Two of the dishes were missing one or more ingredients. When we asked the server about it, they didn't offer to fix the problem (I guess they thought it was a complete impossibility??). There was no offer to warm the dishes to a HOT temp (food safety, folks!!) and my hubs had to ask the server for one of the ingredients (it wasn't offered). One of the other dishes had 3 little pieces of bacon in it (in an omelet with the first ingredient being "bacon"). It was basically a mostly meatless cheese/veg omelet. At that point, the dishes should have been warmed and/or re-made CORRECTLY. They really should not have been served in the first place. Very frustrating for us as this WAS always one of our favorite places to eat. Super bummed this happened. Not sure what's going on in that kitchen - and someone needs to educate the servers.
Sign of a good breakfast place is do the eggs right and have a good juicy piece of ham. Garnet cafe delivers. The raspberry jam and lemon curb were pretty good too.
Triple berry French toast. One of the top two breakfasts in my memory! My husband had a very good classic benedict. Busy Sunday morning, but worth the wait. Successful move to the new location. Good job!
If I was only rating the food, I’d give this place the highest rating. The food is amazing. BUT, the wait is very, very long and for us was made worse because the person doing the seating kept taking regulars in front of everyone. It happened three times that I know positively, before another lady and I said something. We were both groups of four, so when they took two different groups of three in front of us, I thought maybe the tables for four were bigger. Nope. They were the exact same size. I even watched her mark one of the groups off the page we were on and move them to the prior page and then mark them off when she called their name. I had just checked the list and knew we were the next group of four, when she called a group of four who had just walked in. The other lady who was the group of four just after us and I both jumped up and said, “Wait a minute, we were next!” By this time, we had been waiting over 45 minutes (they had told us 30) and we had a two year old in our group and it was getting very close to nap time. It was also my birthday brunch, so I was really hoping for a nice, relaxing brunch but by this time we were all past that. After we talked to the owner (who seemed genuinely shocked that this was happening), both groups were seated almost immediately. The owner apologized profusely, promised me they would have a meeting about this issue, assured me this was NOT how they operated, comp’d our drinks, the service we had was amazing (we tipped accordingly) and the food was amazing. So the moral of this story is - when you eat here (and you’re missing out if you don’t), keep a close check on who’s being seated, unless you enjoy sitting around in restaurants while others are seated in front of you. Hopefully, the owner did take care of this and it will never be an issue again.
This says it temporarily close. I do believe it is opened. I ate the new location on government way Feb 20,2022. It's clean roomy and the hash was delicious.I tried the Sandpoint omelet on my nect visit. The house made sausage was outstanding
Food was cold, hollandaise sauce was unrecognizable in taste and as thick as stiff whipped cream. Potatoes and onions were not cooked thoroughly. Biscuits and gravy good flavor but cold also.....this was 10 to 15 minutes after opening at 7am. Asked waitress about issue and was promptly ignored and check delivered on the way to another table.With these issues not recommend by us at all.
Krista was our server. My wife was going to order something off the menu until Krista recommended this AMAZING special with awesome descriptions! Food was phenomenal! I love the new location bigger and better!! Service was impeccable! Very happy Sunday morning for me and my family ?? Krista is the best!! The woman who sat us was also so dang kind and apologetic for our wait. A wait that weren’t worried about!!
