It’s a very cozy restaurant, unfortunately the food was horrible, the quality of the food was poor, unseasoned, I saw the people sitting next to me sending their food back and I thought they were being too picky. I was wrong, I couldn’t eat my meal, it was that bad. I ordered the chicken fried steak, I ate the eggs that came with it the rest wasn’t edible, not even the tater tots. The prices a quite high for the portions they offer. Our server was very nice, I believe this place has a lot of potential, but their cooks need to be retrained, they need to look into their recipes and buy quality ingredients or I don’t see them staying in business for long.
Got to try out the new owners version of the Trolley House. Simply put, go anywhere else for food. The online menu is not what is available at the restaurant; was informed by waitstaff that it will be awhile before the online menu reflects the "new" Trolley House menu; which is slimmed down and quite awful. The numerous benedicts are now just the regular Canadian-bacon kind, the special versions such as the Salmon bennie have been eliminated. The bacon was floppy and undercooked; the pancakes have a weird texture and aftertaste."Old" TH I miss you, "new" TH never ever again.
Lousy service. The food quality has gone down like crazy. Tiny portions. Slow as Christmas kitchen. Cold food, asked for well-done toast and got cold bread. Surly, rude waitress who somehow believes plastic straws magically make it to the ocean from the Boise landfill. This place is a pathetic shadow of its former self. Used to be the BEST place in town. No longer. Do yourself a favor and go to Eddie’s or The Griddle or Jo Mama’s or even IHOP for a much better meal and service.
The service it’s not great!! We got stuck in a corner and felt as we got forgotten!! We had to grab the menus and never got asked if we wanted coffee or anything!! A group of guys came in 15 after us and got the water and coffee and menus as soon as that sat down!!Food was good not much of it but good!! The jam was amazing we asked for one more container since they are so small..
Service, food quality and price are the reasons for the low rating. There were four tables seated during our visit, yet we only saw the server four times, once to deliver water, get our order, deliver the food and give us the bill. No check-ins, no refills on drinks or any other services. Food quality was not great. Food was delivered cold. Pancakes were little more than a crepe and had no flavor (even when my daughter had blueberries added). Chicken fried Chicken used a pre-made processed chicken meat patty vs a real chicken breast. The most disappointing part of the experience was the price. I asked to substitute a pancake over toast for my side, which they did. However; they charged me $1.00 for the substitute and $4.50 for the pancake. They charged me for a whole pancake! Recommend to find another breakfast restaurant that provides better service, food and prices that match the food quality.
Pretty typical breakfast place. Best homemade strawberry jam I've ever had!
Fantastic food! I like breakfast places and the Trolley House has wonderful breakfast food! Worth trying out.
When we arrived, the hostess was super nice and sat us down while apologizing for the small seating, which was fine. We waited a good 5 minutes to get water. When the older waitress named Victoria came over, all she said was “hi. what do you guys want”. we got our food and it was pretty good but two minutes into eating, she came back with our check and didn’t come back the rest of our time there. We received kids glasses of water which weren’t all the way full and didn’t get more or asked if we wanted a refill the entire time. When we looked at our ticket, we saw that they charged my boyfriend 75 cents to take the off tomatoes and mushrooms off of his omelet. The waitress was incredibly friendly and talkative and servicing the people around us. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant with the bad service and the ridiculous charges.
They have very friendly staff. “THE BOISE WAY.” There food is absolutely delicious! Definitely a must try. It’s been around in the Treasure valley for many years! It is just lovely!
I had been to this place once before in 1999. It was average then. Today my wife and I went there for breakfast at about noon. The place was not that busy, not like other places we had tried to get into just before coming here. I ordered the Trolley House Special and my wife ordered the French Toast plate. We also had two cups of coffee. The eggs were dry and rubbery, basically over-cooked. The hash browns were raw in the middle. The French Toast was good. The creamer for the coffee was actually just low-fat milk. No matter how much you put in the coffee it still looked and tasted black. My wife tried some of my food. When we got the bill we found that the waitress added $2.00 for meal splitting. In addition, she never filled our water or coffees. I had to walk up to the kitchen area to ask. A gentleman at another table had to do the same thing. We were seated near the bathroom. We noticed that the ceiling vent above us and the larger ceiling vent above the booth behind the cash register counter were absolutely filthy black. Very unappetizing and probably a health code violation. It was fortunate that we saw it after we ate. I noticed it while looking around waiting for the waitress to fill our coffee mugs which never happened. We will not be back again.
