Place was pretty decent. Friendly staff and my waitress was awesome.I got the gnocchi and to be honest I've had better. It was good but too greasy in my opinion. However the good selection of beers made up for it.
There were very few other customers in the restaurant during our lunchtime dining. We waited for an hour for our food, and when it arrived it was already cooled and exceptionally bland. Some of it seemed to be store bought/pre-made. Our server only spoke to us a couple of times as well and was fairly rude. Lastly, were not compensated in any way for the wait. I would not recommend this restaurant and do not plan to return.
Papa Joe's Restaurant BoiseDue to mold in our rental's attic we are staying at a hotel..nearby was an " Italian " restaurantSo we thought-Why not? Here is why not:No itemized receipt. It took 45 minutes for them to make a side salad and a pasta dish. When I ordered a drink( they told me they had a full bar,)I was told I could not have a long island because "there was no simple syrup"I asked for a whiskey and they told me that the well was OLD CROWI ordered a Jack and Coke and I was given a HUGE glass of Coke with very little Jack. Our server only came by once. After 45 minutes, we asked for our food to go- because my toddler couldn't sit anymore. The decor is a hideous, an old rotting building- call it historic, the tables and chairs don't match, different chairs at every table? Dirty chipping walls AND there are no booths.(The tables themselves look like something out of an old Jack in the Box)No cloth napkins or tablecloths here. There IS music that is meant to be "Italian"but it is not enough to make up for the lack of decor or good service. We ordered an appetizer .A (very small) fried mozzarella that was rubbery- my kid choked, and marinara sauce that tastes like it came out of a can. When we got our food home, the pasta was super over cooked & mushy and the eggplant burnt also, bread with no seasoning at all. I got a mediocre side salad because I refused to order anything off their menu because it was ALL 17-30$ a plate and did not look appetizing. Those fried lumps in the picture are eggplant. Gross. Yet..People were pouring in the doorand the other day it was so busy we couldn't go there!!.Do Idahoans not understand Italian food?Granted, I am Sicilian but still I am wondering..Who is just dying to spend 50 to $100 on an absolutely disgusting dinner ?If I could give this place 0 stars I wouldWe threw it all in the trash and went to Mcdonalds.
It's the new and improved Papa Joe's. No longer the pizza and beer college hangout of yore. Still has pizza along with yummy pasta dishes and sandwiches. Food is delicious. Tortellini was so good. Service is great. Fresh paint and nice dining atmosphere. Reasonable prices. A must try.
All meat pizza was amazing. Staff was extremely pleasant, very clean cute place. Side note: Here traveling for work and it was refreshing to run into a Boise State student from my home town that made it even better.
I went to this place as a date with my boyfriend and the food was okay. The pasta wasn’t seasoned so I had to add a lot of Parmesan and salt. It took almost an hour for us to get our food since there was such little staff. Throughout our dinner we had three different waiters. One of our waiters added on a cheese bread to our meal. We didn’t order the bread and it was just bread, no cheese, it was not toasted and it was bland bread. Come to find we were charged 7$ for the bread and when we brought it up we just got a 10% coupon. While having our dinner a fight broke out between an employee and somebody at the bar. The atmosphere was super tense and awkward. I did not want to look anywhere else but my table due to the shouting and the cussing between the worker and customer. The restaurant was empty and nobody around but us. The all around atmosphere was depressing. The food is super overpriced and it is for older people that have no taste in seasoned food. I’d steer clear of this Italian restaurant and pick a better spot.
First time trying Papa Joe's the portions were extremely generous.. our server Kara was pleasant and service was speedy and quick.. definitely will be back..
The dinner here definitely lacked flavor. It a while to get our food but it wasn't anything ridiculous. The only problem was that I ordered the chefs special of the chicken and pesto risotto, the risotto I recieved had neither chicken or pesto, but instead a vegetable medley. While the dish was visually appealing it wasn't what I asked for. Luckily my coworker traded dishes with me. When I asked the waiter about this he said he'd talk to the chef and then just never addressed the issue again. The dishes all needed a stronger helping of salt. I will say the manager was very nice though.
The food was good. Not exceptional. The place was clean, quiet, and the staff was all about making our experience a good one. The food could have been better but I'm willing to give it another try.
Good food good experience good beer
