We wandered in this evening and were welcomed by our friendly server.Food was hit and miss, the bbq pork with seeds (a cold dish) was good and flavorful although I’m not sure I’d order it again. For dinner we ordered the Bun Bo Xao which was excellent. We also ordered the combo with mandarin chicken, Mongolian beef with fried rice and it was odd. The mandarin chicken was the best part of the dish by far. The beef stunk to high heaven. I couldn’t tell you if it was old or what but the aroma was foul. We could barely stand the smell of it on the table. Not only was the beef stinky but there was a hair right in the middle of the Mongolian beef.It wasn’t too pricey but you get what you pay for, mediocre food and the possibility of a belly ache after! Service however was excellent!
Would give 5 stars, however all the beef was tough in pho special pho, except the meatball and tripe. THE THICKER slices of beef had good meat to fat ratio but again beef too tough. The broth was A+ and the best part seasoned well and flavorful. The noodles a little too soft. I would prefer then sliced beef to be cooked by the steaming broth. I would ask on another order to see if they can accommodate the thinner raw beef instead of the way it was prepared on that day. The spring rolls were lovely.. a little thick on rice paper roll. The dipping sauce not as thick or peanutty as i prefer They, but delicious none the less. They were really nice. Fast. Will try other things on the menu as well.
I've been eating at Dong Kahn's for over 20 years. Back when they were across the street from St. Lukes Hospital. Here's a few things that set them apart: 1) The servers are consistently friendly, helpful and attentive. 2) The food is consistently the same; always fresh, always hot off the stove, and always wonderful. I have never ordered anything that I did not love! Portions are huge, prices are fair, and food is delicious. My personal favorites: Bun Bo, Gai Gao, Kung Pao, any stir fry, any soup, any fried rice. All amazing.
I've been coming here for 20 years. The service is amazing they always take care of you. The food is great also
Umm, simply amazing!!! Nicely sized portions and the food is sooo good! Highly recommended if you like pho, Asian, or especially Vietnamese menu.
We have been going to Dong Khanh since they were down by St. Luke's many years ago. Haven't been up to the new location much until recently. We had forgotten how great the food is. Nice portion size, with quick service and obviously extremely tasty. Very, VERY noisy would be my only real complaint and I really believe all employees out in the dining room should still be wearing a mask.
Ordered takeout from this gem, which I’m just discovering is 2 mins from my house. The food was amazing! The king pao tofu was spicy and so flavorful. The veggies were perfectly cooked and it was such a delicious variety. Fried rice was a perfect compliment. Definitely a great value for the price, enough for two meals. Can’t wait to try more of the menu! Takeout service was great, food was ready at the exact time they said. What a good find!
A great informal Vietnamese restaurant. Food was delicious and the service was great. Apparently, by the volume of take-out orders, this place is a neighborhood favorite. Really enjoyed the won ton soup. You need to go, tonight!
Best Asian food in the state, I've eaten here close to a dozen times and it's always been amazing, can't wait until they get a Meridian restaurant opened the Mongolian beef is the best I have ever had and I've ate many in a lot of different places. Only complaint is it's kinda out of the way and is semi difficult to get too.
Excellent food, the cha gio rolls were light and crispy, the spring rolls were delicious. The pho had a very flavorful broth with lots of shrimp, chicken and beef. The spicy beef was excellent, good quality beef and not too spicy. I highly recommend Dong Khanh
