This is the best local restaurant in Lihue in my humble opinion. Just a heads up, this is a small kitchen serving take out only , so if you go around lunch time you can expect a 20+ minute wait. I always place my order over the phone and it really smooths out the experience.
Our last night in Kauai, and we found the best food on the island. Literally inhaled every bite, it was some of the most flavorful, authentic, worth every penny kind of food. We ordered at the window and ate on our tailgate with our kiddos who also were thoroughly impressed. We had the Loco Moco, Smileys chicken, and an incredible combo plate. We can’t wait to come back next year! 5 stars isn’t nearly enough
so good. pro tip: call ahead and ordergarlic shrimp, side of kalbi, laulau & chicken combo, beef stew!
This has been the best food during our stay here in Kauai! We had the kalbi rib plate and the combo lots with the chicken, pulled pork and hamburger. The mac salad was great and the taste of the kalbi ribs were amazing! Would definitely recommend this place.
Great plate lunch - they offered take-out only, so we grabbed ours and ate in a nearby park. Tender, succulent pork, and good macaroni salad.
If you like the "plate lunch" type meals, this place is it. The food pics though are all plated. This is a bit misleading as this is a takeout counter. You order and leave. There is no seating. There is a park nearby which is where we went and ate. But if you are vacationing. Just be aware you will have to take it somewhere. That said the food was good. I had the chicken Katsu and SMiley's chicken. The smileys was da bomb. Fried chicken type chunks in perhaps a teryaki glaze or something. My wife had the Chicken Teryiaki which was also good. They has run out of beef and a few items (we went around 6pm) The plates come with the traditional rice scoop and mac salad.
Super tasty food! The Smiley's chicken will probably be something I will crave for the rest of my life. It's like the best fried chicken in the world made sweet love to a delicate and flavorful sauce and still stayed crispy in the afterglow.... Sigh....?
This place lived up to the hype! The Pepper Chicken and Garlic Butter Shrimp were both great!! It’s a to-go place, so after we got our food, we drove a couple of blocks to a park and ate on a park benches. Would definitely eat here again if ever back on Kauai for vacation.
A no frills almost literal hole-in-the wall, but in a good way. Food was simple but hearty, good value for money. Seems to cater mostly to locals, not tourists. Be aware though...no seating, indoors or out. Takeout only, with a walk-up window. So if you're a tourist, be prepared top eat in your car or try to find a nearby park or something.
Went here because of all the great reviews, and it did not disappoint!!! The staff was SUPER friendly. I asked for a local dish, and the person taking my order was super sweet, and described what a local dish is. Ordered it. It was delicious!!!! Hole in the wall. Local place. LOVED it!! Thank you for feeding us!
