This place has good food and service. However, if you go, be advised that genki is wildly understaffed at the moment. There is always a long wait time to get seated (can range between 20 and 90 mins at times). Last time I went, they opened 30 minutes later than posted hours with no explanation. Another major gripe has to be pricing. This place is very expensive. You can expect to spend around $30 per person, and that's without getting the expensive plates. Overall, you can have a good time here if you're willing to deal with high prices, long wait times, and frequent product outages.
We just HAPPENED upon this place and are already planning to go back on Big Island. For us, from the mainland, it is a great treat! It's conveyer belt sushi but on a boat that you order from an ipad at your spot. If you have kids, I highly recommend stopping here, plus the food was delicious. The food is made rather quickly, so a great stop in between tours and touringItems they have: edamame, baked mussels, agedashi tofu, tempura, gyoza, chicken karaage, assorted nigiri, gunkan & inari, sushi rolls and even sushi bowls.

Ordered take out. It was bad. Fish slices were odd shaped and almost too thin and falling off the rice. No wasabi between fish and rice. The enanami were over steamed and tasted bad. I will not go back
Good sushi. Fun place to eat.. feel like sushi restaurant in japan.However, long wait time. They limited capacity/ amount of people in the restaurant due to covid.. only allow like 5 tables/groups in the whole restaurant.
i rate this restaurant a one because the line is literally so long, and the fact that they don’t even call out the next customers when the others are done is disappointing. They have to make their customers sit outside and WAIT for hours. The Genki Sushi in Lihue is not worth going to LOL literally has the worst customer service ??
What’s going on with Genki in Lihue? You go there because you’re hungry and then wait in line only to be told you have to wait more. Their usual reason, “we don’t have enough people.” What about us your customers? I see a lot of people like us leaving disappointed. We would rather go to another place rather than wait 30 minutes of uncertainty. Maybe you should just stop operating if you keep treating us like this!
Food was OK. It wasn't fresh tasting. The experience of how you get served your food was fun.

Service was friendly and it was nice to get in quickly and eat but the quality of the food was pretty bad. The sashimi was cut so sloppily and roughly it looked mangled. The quality of the food is definitely 2-3 star quality
