Aloha to you all! ? No trip to Hawaii is complete without a Luau! You may be considering the Wailele Luau because of its cost or convenience. Overall, I had a good time and would recommend it to someone else, especially if this was the only ticket you could find. We opted for premium which made checkin faster, the view better and access to the food faster. The open bar was awesome, and the drinks never stop. This is a good thing! The food was “fine”. Buffett style, like a catered wedding, and by Maui standards it’s average or below average, which is still better than normal food on the mainland. The show was also fine. A little light, only 3 female performers and two male performers total. I think they are short staffed. Still, they did a great job and did like 10 costume changes. Haha. One thing that bothered me is they you can tell they originally designed the area to have waterfalls and water features behind the stage, but they are either no longer functional or not turned on. Weird. The promotional photos show 6 fire spinners. At our show we had two. Not a huge deal. This is a “Hotel Luau” so you get what you get, but it was a beautiful evening, easy to deal with, and a ton of fun despite some of the mass produced elements. I’m glad I was able to get a ticket, Maui is not the kind of place that easily accommodated spontaneous travelers.
The performances and performers were SO talented! They are talented at their craft and it shows! The buffet was lovely. The wait staff while being short staffed still did a great job trying to attend to the needs of everyone they had in their sections. I would recommend splurging for the premium seating. It got us seated faster and got us to the buffet line quicker. Parking was easy if you are driving from a different location we parked in the self park parking garage and had the parking validated when we got there which made it free on the way out. There was a market to shop if you wanted to do that and the sunset on the beach was absolutely stunning.
Don’t let the negative reviews scare you. My family booked this luau and the show was amazing. The dancers are so talented and it was very interesting and cool to hear about Hawaiian culture. We sat with a different family at our table and they were fun, so that added to the good experience. The drinks are strong! The food didn’t wow me, but my husband liked his. I didn’t go into it expecting a lot from the food at a hotel event, so I’m still giving 5 stars because the staff and dancers deserve it.
This was my first luau, and it was an amazing experience! The line to get in (reservations required but still a wait for when doors opened) was long, but once we got inside, we had a wonderful night. Unless your party is very large, you'll be seated with another group and get to make new friends. All the staff we talked to were super friendly and willing to help, and were very accommodating with our food allergy needs. While we waited for the show to begin, we walked around their few tables of local craftspeople selling wares. The open bar was a nice treat, and drinks were easy to get. They had a very organized system for calling tables up for food which prevented crowding at the buffet tables. There were so many types of food available, mostly Hawaiian dishes, and everything I had was very delicious! The show itself was also wonderful - talented musicians, skilled performers, and lots of crowd engagement.
I can’t say enough great things about this particular luau. Throughout the years we done others & all have been good but I think this is the one I will return to. The performance was wonderful as was the food. Location is great as the Westin is close to Whalers Village so we could stroll through there before the luau. We opted for VIP tix and our seats were up front with no obstructions. When we were there they started seating at 5:30 so when we arrived a few mins before that time there was a line but as soon as they started seating parties the line moved quickly. Our waiter was attentive. Food was generous. They brought everything to the table - no buffet. It was more than enough - a bit of everything they serve. Truly memorable.
Bought premium tickets for $180.00 ! Food was not worth the money. Unfortunately we got rained out of the show. Dessert was best part of meal and it was plain old mass produced chocolate and vanilla cake.
The show was great, performers, MC, and the band did a great job, fire show was the highlight, food is terrible (zero stars). Definitely expect better from the Westin! Drinks were good. Overall decent experience, they do not realize how important the food is to their guests. At this time there are better luaus on west Maui that offer a great meal and show. I would come back if they revamp their dinner.
The only reason this gets two stars is because the performers did a nice job and the stories are fun. The food is inedible. Horrible. Even easy stuff to satisfy folks with, like fried rice or pan fried noodles, was bad. I wouldn’t feed it to my dog. Sorry, but had to write this review so they stop ripping people off.
The food was sub par, they didn't make any decent drinks and the view was not great. You also have to pay for the photos they take but don't tell you till the end.
Nice show; The service was friendly, the women were beautiful. The meal was...so-so. The apps tasted better than the main dishes and the food is served banquet style, so bring your appetite and a minimum party of three if you hope to finish everything. No pig, if that's what you're looking for (maybe due to COVID?).One thing that bugged me is that the performance started off with a Christian prayer. Given the diverse crowd and the fact that we're supposed to be learning the history of the HAWAIIAN people, I found this to be inappropriate. I realize I'm gonna catch flak for this from the "usual suspects", but I just found it off-putting.Thinly-veiled religious indoctrination aside, my girlfriend and I still had a great time. We appreciated the free photos and we bought some portraits from the vendors.
