After a week of trying new things we just wanted chicken tenders and fries and that’s hard to find in Maui. I found this restaurant at the Hyatt down the beach-walk and it served us well with our cravings. I also got a dirty monkey ???, our server gave me two glasses with the second being just left over mix, the main drink was definitely too strong but the second glass with the left over portion was a perfect blend. Definitely didn’t disappoint.

We have visited several times, the most recent was December 2021. Good food, good service, nice atmosphere. This time was for lunch after arriving in Maui. But in June 2021 we had a family dinner here. Both experiences were pleasant, and we would return. Like I noted, surprisingly good for being the pool bar restaurant... even for a casual family Dinner!

Food is quite good. My wife says the salsa that comes with the fish tacos is the best she’s ever had. Main issues are service can be hit or miss. Some days everything was super fast and others we had to wait 15 minutes just to get a waiter to take our order. Some of that is due to staffing issues which sucks when you’re paying a good amount of $ to stay in Hawaii. Also as others have mentioned $19 for a drink is a bit crazy.

We ate here multiple times during our stay at the Hyatt. The food was always good or great. Get the ahi tacos or nachos! Nom nom! Super friendly staff and plenty of shade. We ordered from here while sitting poolside and service was still awesome. Understand that it will take some time to get your food/drinks poolside as there is typically only two or three servers working the entire area. It is on a resort, so you will pay resort prices.

Ate lunch a couple times during our stay - great food, great service. Had steak sandwich's one day and pizza another day.

Very good service excellent location. Poolside with great ocean view. Food was served fast and hot but if you are from Southern California, don’t order their chips and dip, tasteless!

Amazing service and excellent food, wait staff go above and beyond especially Lexi!!The bar staff are bar none! Much props to Jocelyn, Andy , Austin and Rob . I also noticed that the manager was onsite often and often times would assist staff with anything that needed to be done (leading by example is rare these days) if you are in the area or staying at the Hyatt regency for sure make a point to come to Umalu!

Very friendly and welcoming restaurant . Was sat immediately and the server was awesome .

Umalu's is a dining option at the Hyatt Regency Resort on Maui. My husband and I visited in March 2022, and we stayed at the Hyatt. We dined at Umalu's twice and order some food to-go once while on vacation. I discovered Umalu's as a dining option prior to our trip and made a few reservations which I highly recommend. As you can imagine, Hawaii is a highly visited destination at any time of the year. I strongly encourage planning as far ahead in advance as you can. Most restaurants can be found on Open Table or Google for reservations. For the price, this is an easy dining option for anyone. The quality and quantity of food is just right. Drinks are quite pricey, but again it's a realization that in Hawaii prices are higher.Umalu's is an open-air restaurant right next to the main pool at the Hyatt Regency. There is a large bar where you can drink and dine as well as more casual table seating for reservations. Umalu's is open for lunch and dinner. There is a Happy Hour from 11am-noon and you can get discounted selected mai tai beverages and domestic beers. In our different dining experiences here, we enjoyed the nachos with pork as an appetizer. This is a large serving of food, plenty for a table of four. We also tried the fried calamari and the wood-fired pizza. They only serve wood-fired pizza on select nights during the week, but definitely make sure to try it if you can. We ordered the Hawaiian and the Palace pizzas. I would say 3-4 people can easily enjoy 1-2 pizzas.Overall, this was an excellent casual dining option while we stayed at the Hyatt Regency.

We were a party of five. Umalu is located at the Hyatt, outdoors by the pool. Service was very good. The outside setting was very nice. One of the party had the fish special which was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
