Great view. The chairs in the sand put everything at an awkward level that made it hard for me to feel comfortable. The bar was cheap on the lava flow I ordered. All that aside, I enjoyed the place.
Philosophy is the pool bar and Cafe at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas North. Due to worker shortages, you order at either the bar or the host stand, get a number and the food is delivered.This is Maui, so the prices are pretty reasonable. The service they provided was not bad and everyone seemed to be working hard to get their jobs done.Food, unfortunately, was only OK. Nothing was bad, but nothing was outstanding, either. Still, if you are enjoying time at the pool, it's not bad since you can have your order delivered to your poolside lounge chair.
A great place to watch the sunset and have a nosh. Try the Reuben, it was incredibly good.
On the beach at the Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort, this out door eatery has the sun and sea breezes to accompany your cocktails and dinner. The food is served from a food truck that adds to the charm of the place and let’s say the grub is elevated bar food…plentiful and scrumptious… The bar staff are amongst my favourite servers. You will not go wrong with either Penny or Chris…or indeed any of the young, helpful enthusiastic young people on hand. (Hey! The mai-tais are great!!!)
We’ve had many fish tacos at other restaurants, usually quite good, and ordered them here: fish was dry, probably overcooked. Our drinks, a Pina Colada and Lava Flow, might have had alcohol in them, but we couldn’t taste it. The drinks were a confectioner’s delight: surgery without substance.
We've stayed at the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas several times. Each time we ate or had drinks at Pailolo, and each time we had a positive experience. It is a bar and restaurant with a limited menu of poolside fare (eg burgers and nachos). The food is always good and the drinks offer a reasonable pour. Of course, it's expensive. This is Maui after all. But the prices strike us as Hawaii resort standard. Our servers are generally friendly. And the food comes out reasonably quickly...like today, super fast. And did I mention the view. It's beautiful. All in, Pailolo offers a welcoming ocean side experience and we always look forward to our return.
I gave it 3 stars cuz the service was awful but the food and drinks were amazing. We arrived to find a waitress bussed a family of 3's food from their table when they got up with their small child to explore. The waitress replaced their food. We receive our drinks (tropical monkey, double) and my husband spilled his before he even had a sip. We informed the same waitress that we needed a new one. This drink wasn't cheap. While she did get a towel to clean it up, his drink never came. I finally had to go to the hostess in the middle of my meal and explain what happened. 10 minutes later my husband had his drink, after he had finished his meal. Not one person said sorry or gave an apology of any kind. They were busy but not crazy so there was no excuse. The monkey drink is excellent but I don't know if that's enough to make me come back.
Like others have said the set up is confusing. First - it is seat yourself set up. Second - order with the hostess. Third - If you close out right away they will keep your card and bring it with your drink/food. Odd for sure. But decent bar food and good for sports.
Don’t remember why except location anyone would rate this place so high. Prices are high they serve you plastic silverware and a to go box. Food is ok at best
We came here to watch the WA Apple Cup the day after Thanksgiving. They were very busy when we first arrived but luckily someone left and we were able to get a table in the shade. We had many drinks and shared some appetizers. The service was friendly, fast and fun. We watched the bartender make drinks and he didn’t skimp on alcohol which was nice to see. Great place to watch a game.
