I want to support local business, but I can not recommend eating at Maui Tacos. There were things I enjoyed like the friendly reception from the staff, but I got incredibly sick minutes after leaving the restaurant. I have been sick for the last 12+ hours since eating and felt compelled to share this experience for those considering stopping by. Note that my wife did not get sick from her entre. She ordered the chicken tacos, and I ordered the steak tacos. After chatting with my brother who stays on Maui quite a bit said he too got sick eating here. There were other gripes like the cold stale and chewy tortilla chips that you pay extra for and the overall price being about 30-40% above what you'd expect. These are simply pale in comparison experiencing light food poisoning. Pretty disappointed to spend vacation time on Maui inside being sick.
First time at this location of Maui Taco's, and it did not disappoint! (Been to the location in Kihei a few years ago). The food was outstanding, and there was lots of it. As well, they have a Happy Hour, with discounts (and they are strict on the time). As well, if you follow Maui Taco's on Instagram, you get free chips and salsa! Lots of food options with fresh ingredients, Check out the menu online! You can also get a drink here, ie beer. If you are hungry for a taco or burrito, this is the place to go, FULL STOP!
Wonderful TacosWe went around 430 and they had promo running 50% off on tacos (3-5PM) this was applicable for dine in only . The tacos were amazing. Wide variety of choices of salsa (self served ).I would recommend this place if you are nearby napili
The tacos are great, but I think it's the salsa bar that makes it special. Note you can only order a beer if you eat indoors.
Take out now but accommodating and friendly staff. Food wad excellent. Varied Mexican style menu options.
Portions were large, but very bland. No cilantro or lime provided for tacos. Cali quesadilla tasted like McDonalds burger (not good). Salsa bar was empty except for 3 choices. Server forgot to bring us our beer and we had to ask.
Tasty as always. We were happy they survived Covid, and are still open. Would have preferred more fish and less cabbage in our fish tacos, but they were good.
Condescending, patronizing old gentleman at the counter. Also takeout box does not have any salsa or condiments -- you are expected to get the stuff from the salsa bar all by yourself (they don't tell you). I realized after I got to the car and started eating. Also the salsa bar is handled very unhygienically by the patrons. In this age of covid fear I would not dare to go anywhere near it.
Terrible - I ordered enchiladas and tacos. This is what I got. Tried calling the restaurant and no answer.
Been coming to Maui Taco for 20 years- was our fav place to eat! I even have the cook book and everything!!! Tonight’s visit has left us very disappointed. The food was very bland, not as described on menu or as I remember it. Rice and beans seemed to have come from a box and a can, I can’t even describe how different it tastes (even from last last March) New management? Whatever the case, I’m sad that it’s not what it used to be. Sorry, MT you’ve lost our business and will not be recommending as I usually do!
