Way, way too sweet and greasy. We ordered 2 banana cream, two guava cheesecake and two mango. Cost for 6 - $ 18! They charge the filling separately. The dough was OK - crunchy outside but not moist in the inside. The filling was way, way too sweet and you can see the frying oil when you lay down the malasada. We had malasada @ Leonard's in Waikiki and those from Leonard's beat these hand down. Very disappointed
This is a great spot for malasadas. I was very pleased with the variety of fillings that they offered and even 3 different coatings for the outside of you donut. Powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, and regular sugar. They offered 3, 6, or 12 malasadas. We chose 3. For our fillings we picked nutella, mango, and a special flavor ube cheesecake. The donuts are freshly made when ordered. The only downside was there was only one lady working the stand and she didn't have her next batch ready for following customers. She still had to wait for the batter. We wanted 6 and ended up just getting 3 because of lack of preparation. One lady went up after us and walked away because of the 20 minute wait for more donuts to be made. The malasadas themselves were delicious. My only concern is that the filling is not all throughout the donut. Only a bit was near the outside of the donut then the rest was just dough. I wished it was filled up all the way.Other than that this is worth a stop of you're craving fresh hot malasadas on Maui!
Absolutely delicious! The only reason we didn’t give 5 stars is that they were out of the island flavors and chocolate after only being open 1/2hr. However it was still very good! Definitely a must stop. We personally would only get a couple w/filling on our next run because they are delicious even without filling and you can save money.
So so so good! Each hot malasada is hand filled to order and the options for flavours is plentiful.
We absolutley LOVe malasadas and these do not disappoint. Made to order while you wait, they are the bomb. And juat the right size. This is a must stop for a fun Maui treat! They are located in Lahaina on a corner and in the parking lot of Phillips 76 gas station. Served hot and fresh!!! Makes everyone happy!!!
Wide variety of malasadas and you can customize them. Hot and delicious! We had them a couple times on our trip for breakfast and as a sweet treat.
A friend who comes to the island often told us we had to go here. He said he eats here several times on every trip. We ordered a set of 3. The special with coconut & cinnamon was for sure the best. The 2nd one was maybe plain with powdered sugar (not what we ordered) and it was just okay but We didn’t feel the need to finish it. Bavarian cream was pretty good. I don’t need to go again but you should try it once. I love donuts, scones, fry bread etc. it was good, not amazing. Not the best I’ve ever had. But lots of filling options, lots of ways to custom order. All hot & fresh. The lemonade was really good too. Cash only.
Went one day around noon and they were already sold out. Returned the next morning right when they opened and they ended up opening 20 minutes late. we were second in line, and by the time we left the line was very long. We ordered 9 donuts and they were ready in about 10 minutes. They were all pretty good, and huge. We couldn't finish them. The bavarian cream donut was good but definitely not like a typical bavarian cream. I would recommend this place but go early!
We stopped here twice for hot and delicious donuts. We tried them at 2 other well known places on the Big Island and these were easily the best for us. The dough is light and delicious and we really enjoyed the mango , lilikoi , and empire creme.
It’s a tiny food truck on the side of the road, but boy are they awesome malasadas. They aren’t the best I’ve ever had, I liked Tex Drive In more, but these are still very good. She offers so many different flavors and fillings, so it was hard to decide what to get. I definitely recommend stopping by to pick up a dozen, you won’t regret it.
