Great find … if you’re craving Filipino Hawaiian dishes this is the place to go. Love the variety, meats to seafood to veg. I ordered the garlic shrimp on rice and it did not disappoint!
We showed up before they opened because we have kids and eat early and were second in line. Despite advertising an opening at 4, the doors did not open until after 415, not a big deal unless you have tired hungry little kids. The older women at the counter taking our order was “burned out”, very rude and had no clue of their claimed gluten free menu or weather they use dairy in their side dishes nor cared. We ordered the fried chicken and Mac and cheese for our kids thinking easy obvious hits. NO! We were completely wrong, the mac and cheese was utterly bland and the fried chicken dish was dry and had an obvious hair tangled among the chicken and pasta salad side dish. My kids each had one bite of the Mac and cheese and the chicken not entangled in hair and no more. Upon addressing these issues with staff we got an “ok, here’s our money back for the chicken”, nothing more. We also ordered the basil fish curry and short ribs, both of which were good, nothing special. If you have kids or dietary restrictions look elsewhere.
Awesome food at very reasonable prices.. This place was featured on Guy Ferrari's TV show and for good reason.. We tried multiple different dishes and all were top notch. The pork fried rice and the red curry with rice noodles are my favorite meals.
I had the fish and chips, Boyfriend had basil fish with red curry and rice noodles. It was good. Would like to try some different things on the menu.
Friendly staff; about 30 min from ordering to getting main dishes. Pork sandwich and fries were cold when they arrived. Basil fish (spicy with Mahi Mahi) was not very good - did come warm but fish was my least favorite cook so far on the island and the veggies in the dish were unimpressive. Pork and cabbage plate lunch was probably the best thing we ordered. Came with a very generous portion of pork. Was it the best plate lunch I’ve ever had? No, but it was ok. Pork Lumpia were also ok.
We are so glad we made a trip to Joey's Kitchen. It is a small storefront in a strip plaza with a few interior and exterior tables. We arrived before 6pm, ordered at the counter, and ate inside. Food came out quickly and although it is not a full service restaurant, the lady who took our order checked to see if we had everything we needed. There was a constant flow of people getting take-out orders with a substantial line forming by 6:30 pm. Their clientele seems to be primarily local. The gentleman behind the counter shared stories with many of the customers coming and going. My husband had Seared Basil Island Fish with Red curry & Coconut milk. It was cooked perfectly with a delicious broth. I had Joey's Famous Garlic Chicken with Sweet Soy Glaze & Sriracha Aioli. It was served with a simple but delicious macaroni salad and I substituted Pork Adobo Fried Rice for standard white rice. Also enjoyed Lumpia. For dessert we had their traditional Filipino inspired shave ice - Halo Halo. It's a beautiful layered dessert made from a mixture of shaved ice, evaporated milk, fruits, and ice cream. It was so interesting and definitely worth a try. If you are looking for a sit down full service meal this is not it. But if you want great Hawaiian Asian inspired food you will be very happy here. We're just hoping we can make it back one more time this trip.
Super affordable, good, local, grindz. Ryan took care of us and he was an OG. We got Brussels, lemon grass tofu, and chicken pad thai. All delicious. Nice outdoor seating area. Market right next door.
The food was divine! The staff was super helpful and they were busy! The aromas were out of this world. A must try, if you are in the area.
Small storefront restaurant in Napili Plaza with lots of menu choices for dinner. Liked it so much we went back a second time. Excellent tofu dishes, garlic shrimp and seared ahi. Brussel sprouts and kale caesar were delicious. Perfect choice for take away to bring back to eat on lanai.
We were staying in Napili and decided to get take out here one night. The fish tacos were really great but the poke wasn't even edible. The rice was so warm that it heated the raw tuna and made for a very strange taste... actually put us off poke for the rest of the trip!
