Owner was lovely. Food was ok. Service was mediocre. (Having said that, I think it is very difficult to find good help). Table next to us was on a FaceTime call our entire meal and made for an unpleasant atmosphere as the caller was very loud.
Wow! The food is delicious and the service superb! Hidden gem!
This is a twist on Mexican. I would not visit again, however, none of our plates even looked like what most reviewers posted pictures of! Maybe new chef? I would not reccommend, but would not discourage
Do not eat here. Youâve been warned.
I had high hopes for this place and was let down. It wasnât bad but definitely not great. Our appetizers were really good. We had a larger size party and everyone was happy with the guacamole and ceviche. The waitress messed up multiple orders and had poor communication as to what the special was and what came with it and the kitchen was slow. Almost 1.5 hours to get our entrees. Iâm not trying to hate, just being honest. For the price we paid we felt it wasnât worth it.
Wonderful family owned restaurant in a dive location with astoundingly good Mexican food.
Loved the service. Owner was so attentive and wanted to make sure everything was great. Normally you'd have to pay a fortune to have the owners attention and that degree of care and service. The food was incredible and the drinks were too. Bring a bottle of your favorite tequila and let them make you your favorite margaritas ð¹
Enjoyed every bite. Everything was made fresh, served with a smile. I highly recommend trying this small local business out
The location and first impression was not too promising, but way were we pleased and so happy we decided to dine here. The service, food and overall experience was so amazing! Donât judge a book by its cover - this is a rare find!!!
I had seen reviews of Hungry Coyote on Best of Maui social media sites and knew I wanted to give it a go while we vacationed in July. We made reservations for Tuesday evening and weâre welcomed by friendly staff and a wonderful young man singing/playing guitar. It created the beginning of a great dining experience. We ordered chips and guacamole as a starter - guacamole was amazingly tasty. Two at our table ordered the beef birria enchiladas, one ordered chicken enchiladas and I ordered the special: Mahi w shrimp on a bed of Spanish rice surrounded by fresh local veggies (all uniformly diced to perfection!). Everything was delicious! While we were dining we met the owner and the young sous chef who made the special. The owner told us about her desire to fuse good Mexican food with tastes of the islands to her menu, something sheâs accomplished beautifully. What really won us over though was her passion to help her community. She provides a workspace for 14-16 year olds to learn a skill through teaching and experience while maintaining their good academic standing in school. Hopefully these young people will âpay it forwardâ as they become leaders of their generation. This little spot will certainly become one of our favorite places to look forward to when we visit Maui again! I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did! Highly, highly recommend!!
