We loved this place and we think it is so underrated! We came 3 times during our trip. Right on the ocean, can’t beat the view! First we came for breakfast. $5 pog juice mimosas which were delicious and had a good amount of champagne in them. We each had the messy betty and I got a Mac nut banana pancake on the side. Both were delicious. We also came for happy hour twice. They have drink and food specials from 2-5pm. The bartenders (Caroline and Adrienne) were lovely both times and we chatted for a while. I had double margaritas for $10 and they made them with a good amount of tequila! We also tried the kalua pork quesadilla and it was delicious. This place seemed very quite the times we were there and it is on Front St a little farther away from from the hustle and bustle. If you are looking for a great breakfast right on the ocean, then this is the place for you. Don’t sleep on this bar! All of the staff was very welcoming and kind. I’ll be back on my next Hawaii trip!
They have whole lobsters for 27.95 on Wednesdays and Saturdays. You can't beat that deal! The only sad thing is, if you visited a long time ago as I did, be warned that the luau company finally got smart and moved the stage to the opposite side so you can no longer get a free luau with your Betty's dinner. 4 stars because I wasn't completely wowed by the service.
The lobster special on Wednesdays is well worth a visit. Lost a star only due to the waitress, who could not keep either her clothing nor her mask in place. Saw way more of her than we needed to see.
Great service and amazing views! When we first arrived the restaurant was pretty much empty, so we were a little worried that it wasn't going to be good, but we all really enjoyed it. The watermelon lemonade is a very refreshing alcoholic beverage, it was delicious! I could easily get myself in trouble with more than one of those. I ordered a pork sandwich and it was pretty good.
Good brunch, they have a great menu with a large variety of breakfast and lunch options. You really can’t get a better atmosphere as it is right on the beach. The food was nothing special but it made for a great meal. Overall, I had a good experience here and I recommend eating here!
The setting and specials— we did a prime rib special— will keep this place in business. The barkeeeper also is nice BUT the waitress was unbelievable. I’m sorry we left her a tip. At one point, the first time we came in, I heard her say ‘suck it up, buttercup’ about a neighboring table. The second time, I ordered fish tacos trying to find something I could eat. I’m undergoing chemo and it’s rather obvious. Anyway, the tacos were ultra-spicy for my tummy. She (red-haired, heavyset) came over and I said, these are really hot and I can’t eat them. My husband interrupted by saying, try, you ordered them. And Ms. Waitress grinned, “Better luck next time.” And walked away without offering anything even a I’m Sorry. I worked in a Tourist trap” in college and hated tourists BUT never let it show. She did not need to be mean. And, yes, there was no next time at Betty’s. Drinks were expensive (no surprise) and food was mediocre. Lots of better places 3-4 blocks away.
My mom and I ate at Betty's for happy hour. I got a Mai Tai and we shared the pork nachos. Everything was delicious and the nachos were huge. Enough for 2 people to share. Our server was super sweet and friendly. I highly recommend this place!
6 of us ate breakfast, flavors were very good, generous portions, lots of options including vegetarian. Chilaquiles, veggie benedict, were both spwcial and well above average. Everything else was great also. I would love to try everything on future trips
Getting in for dinner around Front Street can be next to impossible without reservations, but Berry's doesn't take them. They seem to be a local secret, far in the back of 505 Front Street. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Seating with a view of the beach. We had the nachos, definitely sharable. My husband had the Mango Cilantro Mahi, he really enjoyed it but felt there was too much rice. I had the pork tacos, tasted great,, but they fell apart. Decided on dessert to share,. had the Mud Pie, it has Mango sauce on it and the serving size could have fed at least 3 people. We made a good attempt at finishing it, but couldn't do it. Would definitely recommend for quick evening meal, get there before 6:30 unless you want to hear the Feast at Lele music, but not be able to see the show..
This place has a great covered patio. We sat there and enjoyed the breeze and watched the two harp seals lazing on the beach. (They are a protected species, and their area was roped off so that people wouldn't bother them.) Friendly service, good beers on tap, good mahi sandwich and mahi salad -- you can't go wrong here!
