It's very rare that I hop on here to leave negative reviews but this one is definitely warranted.Stopped here with my family after having dinner upstairs at Coconuts. There was a line out the door with (1) person working who also happens to be the owner...(okay, small disclosure here, it was 8:15 when we arrived, and their closing time is 8:30. I'm sure the owner didn't expect a line to be out the door, especially when it's only him. I get that can be a bit stressful and frustrating, HOWEVER, the way he treated me tonight was so rude and unnecessary that I felt compelled to let everyone know before they decide to patronize this man and his business.When it was my turn to order, I simply asked for a cup of chocolate ice cream. He informed me they were out, so I then asked my stepson what other flavor he'd like, he pointed to coconut. Me knowing he wouldn't like it and mistook that for Vanilla, I said, "Okay can I just get a small cup of Vanilla instead". The owners response???????????????"Here in Hawaii, when we say we are out of something that MEANS WE ARE OUT! Do you see the word out on all of these tubs???????" And then proceeded to go down the line of every ice cream he was out of. I was in such shock, I didn't even know how to respond. I had no clue they were out of Vanilla, which is fine as long as he respectfully told me that. I don't even care about the ice cream. I care about the blatant disrespect coming straight out of the owners mouth. I'm sorry sir but isn't it business 101 (ESPECIALLY in the hospitality industry) to provide great customer service to ensure your customers are happy and feel comfortable in your establishment???? He was so RUDE to me, I can't get over it!!! I usually have a lot to say and will absolutely defend myself in situations like this but didn't want to make a scene in front of my family or the line of people behind me. We will never ever choose this place for dessert ever again.
As noted by others, this shop is now known as Cones on Kihei. Stopped in for some ice cream after having a lot of shaved ice, and while the flavors were good, the portion sizes were incredibly small. Typically when you order a scoop of ice cream you are getting a fairly large scoop - especially when the prices are so high. The cup it was served in was about 1/4 cup sized and the ice cream portion was tiny. Can't recommend it when there are so many great places to get shaved ice and ice cream on the island.
If you want ice cream or dole whip and you're in Kihei - this is the place to go!! They also have shave ice and frozen yogurt but the dole whip is amazing and the coconut caramel macadamia nut ice cream is to die for. Plus reasonable prices, lots of options, and an awesome, friendly guy running the place!
The ice cream is good, but the service is not. The waitress even didn’t wash her hands after cleaning the windows and started serving the ice cream. And at the end asked how much tips we would like to add to the recipe, so I didn’t feel comfortable.
Best Coconut ice cream in Maui. Nice people working the counter. When you walk in, close the door securely behind you or the chickens will come in! GREAT place for ice cream.
I like the ice cream - but its overpriced. Recommend to check your receipt because I was billed with different amounts for the same ice cream…maybe it was because of lack of staff
Busy but quick service. No ac inside so still very warm but slightly cooler than outside. Lots of flavor choices and a few local flavors. But in the end it's just ice cream nothing fancy and expensive. $11 for 2 tiny single scoops.
So. Good.I went there an embarrassing amount of time during our 2 week stay in Kihei. The waffle cones are AMAZING, literally the best I’ve ever had. Service is super fast and friendly. We’ll be back one day!!
