We are on holiday in Hawaii from Australia, and spending 5 nights in Kailua. Arrived today and grabbed a quick lunch at Up Roll Cafe. Great service, even though they were very busy. The three of us each had different dishes, two bowls and one roll, and they were all great. We will come back.
Pretty mediocre at best…. Had a weird experience. Ordered two rolls and a bowl. Super unfriendly staff person took our order- seemed annoyed that we were there. (It was 7:30 and they close at 8). One person worked diligently to make our food while the other talked to her friends who had dropped in. Took a while-20 mins plus. All ok no biggie. But then my son accidentally spilled his iced tea…the aforementioned surly staff person exclaimed Omg!! And she could not have been less gracious,or hide her annoyance. We apologized, my son felt terrible. She made a really big deal of rolling out the mop and taking a good 5 mins to clean up one drink. Food still not ready! I bought my son another iced tea - yes I paid for it a second time. No 20% tip this time. Finally got food and took it home. It was ok, not sure what all good reviews are about. I do appreciate the effort that the “chef” put it. We spend a fair amount of time in Kailua. Lots of good food and good energy here. Don’t waste your time at this place. Menu art was awesome tho….
Uproll cafe has been a favorite of mines since they opened years ago in Kaka'ako.This is a perfect place to go if you are looking for a healthy poke bowl .You can select between a roll or a bowl , your preferred choice of protein/main and then whichever toppings you'd like.I always order the sexy salmon or the ahi loverBowl with lots of toppings.I like that there is a veggie option if you don't eat meat/fishThe food is tasty, fresh, healthy and you will feel good afterwards.This time I ordered a variety for my family to try

I usually order a bowl using UberEats. For some reason, the amount of ingredients is always 50/50. Meaning sometimes the bowl is light and nowhere close to being full someone being extremely stingy or (at full price of course) perfectly normal with appropriate ratios. I usually keep ordering occasionally because the food is delicious! However, my most recent order was particularly egregious… I ordered 50/50 salad and rice. I received some rice… and barely any greens at all. The picture is not after I devoured my meal… that is two bites in.
Arrived right when they opened and they were ready to take our order. food was fresh and delicious! had the daily special: shrimp bowl with salad base.
Food was fantastic, and price was decent. Great little sushi spot! Sexy salmon is a must try! Only bad thing was this was a mess to try and eat. I wish they would figure out a way to wrap the bottom up so it doesn't fall out everywhere.
Came here based on all the good reviews and I wasn't let down. Wanted a bite to eat for lunch with a more refreshing feeling so I ordered one of the best sellers for the sushi burrito roll and it was packed with BOMB flavors. Would definitely come back on my next trip to the island. Good pricing and great service.
Great friendly staff, good at explaining the options to a first timer, good at guiding tastes. Clean store. Fresh food. I got the Ahi-Avocado Roll and it was more than I hoped for. Although the idea of a giant sushi roll sounds great, it was hard to eat, and fell apart. Next time I’ll take it to go and cut it at home or just get the bowl version. I will be back again and again. ???
