I really wanted to like this place. It's got the ma and pa "hole in the wall" vibe, but just didn't deliver. The short ribs were clearly a day old reheat meal and the fried rice with spicy chicken was good but not spicy at all.
After a day at the beach, we were famished. We found this restaurant in a small plaza. Very low key, but their combo D was delicious and portions were generous! While, there was no indoor seating, you could sit outside and eat. Highly recommended!
5 stars for the convenience and friendly staff. Good place for starving people who just finished swimming in the sea!Nevertheless, if you have already tried Hawaiian BBQ on the mainland or somewhere else, don't expect to get something unique from this restaurant. I had lived in north cal for years and often went to a local Hawaiian BBQ restaurant for lunch. It was definitely tasty, but its heavy and simple flavor still characterized it as fast food. I was wondering if the Hawaiian BBQ in Hawaii would taste different, so I came to this restaurant and found out the food here tasted pretty much the same as what you can get on the mainland. To sum up, the food is good, and I just want to give a heads-up to those who have a little bit higher expectations of the Hawaiian BBQ in Hawaii.
absolute GAS. me and my friend got the “2 of the above for $14” option with chicken katsu and fried rice and it was SO GOOD. seriously the best katsu i’ve had on this island and i don’t see it changing anytime soon. it fed the both of us VERY well for only about $7 each. the woman taking orders is SO NICE and the food was made super fast!!! 100% recommend for FIRE FOOD. absolutely stop by!!!!! and make sure to tip!!! :)
The perfect comfort food! Great service, great prices, and large portions of crispy chicken. We accidentally almost ordered way too much food and the staff was super friendly, they helped us portion correctly so we didn’t end up with too many leftovers. I’d definitely come here again!
Amazing food. Mochiko chicken was perfectly sweet, crunchy, and delicious. The fried shrimp/scallop/fish combo was cooked perfect. The woman working there was so sweet and our food was made quickly. Great prices as well. I am going to send everyone I know here.
Decided to stop by here after doing the pillbox hike and watching the sunset on the beach because we were hungry wow what a delicious reaturaunt with AMAZING food. Much more authentic and fresh food compared to Waikiki. We’ve been here almost a week and it’s definitely the best food we’ve had our whole trip and I’ve been to Honolulu twice. My boyfriend said he could eat this all day and be happy and is exicited to eat the leftovers because it’s so good and so much food on a plate and unbeatable prices. SERIOUSLY TRY THEM OUT.Sweet local family owned business that deserves all the love for their superb Hawaiian food.Got the pick 2: loco moco curry katsu plate and garlic Mahi Mahi plate. The loco moco is yummy steak with yummy gravy. The curry katsu is delicious curry flavorings the way it should be with crispy fried katsu. The garlic Mahi Mahi is fried with yummy seasoning. The macaroni salad is fresh and really is just so yummy no weird bitterness just fresh homemade flavors really the right texture amaount of sauce and onions a delight for every bite. They do takeout right now and there are tables and chairs outside but I’m happily eating in the car with my piping hot fresh meal that I am truly satisfied with. I can’t recommend them enough. I haven’t written many reviews for hawaii but I just had to share my experience with the world.Definitely wanna try their saimin next time would recommend ordering it with your plates. Would order here and eat on the beach next time.
A meal here was included with our kayak rental at Kailua Beach Adventures. Perfect lunch place! I got katsu over rice and a spam and egg riceball. Hits the spot, great post-kayaking meal. Couple places to sit outside and eat.
Best plate lunch. Chicken katsu and garlic shrimp over fried rice may be the best thing ever.
K&k is my favorite place to eat they have great food and nice people I always get the food to go and go to the boat ramp to eat. I always have left overs for the next day. 10 out of 10.
