We were driving back on 4th of July from Volcanoes NP and were starving as there are not many towns or food options if coming back via the southern part of the island and it was a holiday so many places, even around here were closed. My husband loves Poke and he was in heaven- it was hard for him to decide so he went with the big boy plate and tried 2 different dishes- he loved it and the krab salad (which the rest of us thought had a horrible smell) ... the nachos with kahlua pork were my favorite part of the meal. I went with a beef plate since we had the nachos to start with and I wish I would have had the pork for my main course as well, it was that good- great smoky flavor.
Nice outdoor table for lunch with our family of 5. I chose one of the Pokes and was not disappointed. Super fresh, good-sized portion, nice condiments and loved the fiddlehead fern side salad and fuirkake-topped rice. One of my best poke experiences in Hawaii, and ever, really. Others in our party had shrimp and fish tacos. All were very complimentary. I would definitely eat here again.
We sat outside. Nice atmosphere with tiki torches. Good food, moderate prices (nothing crazy for Hawaii, but not cheap).
Great local fish and other food. We got the "poke flight" - great way to try more than one of their excellent selection of poke! Also had the fish tacos - got cajun seared and it was FANTASTIC! Cooked, but not over cooked. Great strong and delicious drinks too. Friendly staff.
Definitely not inexpensive, but worth every penny. Unless there’s a very good reason to return to a restaurant that is kind of pricey, I won’t do it. Umeke’s is very high on my list of places to return to!
Seated quickly at bar after checking in at kiosk. Full menu available there beats an hour wait for a table. Food was tasty and fresh!
Recommended to us by a local - this place was absolutely the best spot in Kona area. Fresh seafood and poke. Limited seating inside, but well worth the wait if there is one. A must eat if you are in the area!
Our server, Chris, provided quick service without pretension; the pork belly and poke were spot-on; the patio was mellow, comfortable, and clean. Perfect for an early evening meal after spending the day in the sun.
Just had to have the Poke, and it was so fresh and delicious. Also had the Kalua pork and it was wonderful. I’m told that the portions are a little smaller and the dining is a little more formal than before the Triple D effect, but we enjoyed every bite.
Deliciousness is what I’d describe when I visited the fish market for a quick Poke bowl to go yesterday. I’ve eaten inside a few times and didn’t prefer it. This is my favorite place to buy poke. The price is comparable to other markets, but the quality surpasses those others! I had the Hawaiian poke with white rice and Mac salad. There was no waste as everything tasted great! The cubed poke was pretty much uniform and very very fresh. There was no gristle at all! Can’t say that about other places. And that my friends is very important to me - waste. More times than not, I’ve had to spit out pieces of poke with gristle. That’s a bad experience for me. Poke should be savored and enjoyable to eat. So a BIG THUMBS UP to Umekies Fish Market!!!!!
