They only do take out, no in restaurant dining. Visiting family, we ordered dinner for 12 to go and was flabbergasted when the counter girl said that they automatically added an 18% gratuity because the order was over $100.00. The food order was actually $250, so they added another $40 as a tip for . . allowing us to buy a lot of food from them. This is an in restaurant service concept gone stupid. The two stars is only because the food was okay. We will not be patronizing them again, or at least not if we want to spend more than $100.00
Small place, great food, good prices. We were able to go outside and eat. So much food we couldn't eat it all.
Some of the best food we ate during our two week visit. Really complex delicious flavours. We had calamari, chicken panang curry, tofu Thai basil, papaya salad. At the end of April it was take out only, which was fine with us.
Absolutely the BEST Thai cuisine on the island. Every curry is amazing, especially the pumpkin curry when it's in season. Sig usually orders the larb but went the artichoke panang this time and loved it. Said it was fun and creative. The Pad Thai is something to write home about and don't ever leave without an order of curry puffs.
Awesome food,so much to choose from their menu. Love their papaya salad,curry fries, pannang curry,pad thai. I would recommend for you to try.
I've been obsessed for over a decade. My favorite restaurant in Kona. The food is consistently delicious and the staff is always efficient and nice. 10/10 recommend.
Got the locals recc for Original Thai and it was spot on. Excellent portions, friendly service, and I appreciated the careful COVID protocols. Takeout only and that’s what we wanted. Can’t miss with this place!

It's rare to find a Thai restaurant as good as Original Thai. We didn't know what a gem we are about to discover when we ordered food from here. It's a must try in Kona. The green curry was impeccable with the right amount of spice, sugar, veggies, and curry. The noodles were well cooked and delicious. The food was absolutely amazing. And the portions were humongous. No wonder there was a 1.5 hour wait time as we saw orders after orders getting picked. Glad we found this place as we had an awesome Thai food after a really long time; that too on a remote island. Definitely worth visiting when in Kona.
Thai was good.. I think stick with the basics on the menu. Right now, no seating inside. There are a couple of tables outside. They appear to not have a liquor license, so we were able to sit at the bar literally next door... and they offered to carry it over to us. Seems like a popular place, as many were grabbing carryout.
