So many different flavors that I’ve never tasted before. Interesting and fun experience. Everything is eco friendly! Vegan options as well.
Had my first glass of kava with POG. Which I found was a nice way to dip your toes into the experience. Then went with a half fresh, half dried/powdered version. I loved how instantaneously relaxed I felt. I’ll definitely seek this out again. The poke here was some of the best we had on the island. Chilled out small location with super friendly staff. Would recommend for sure if kava interests you.
Poke here was awesome. Lots of tasty and fresh flavors, pretty big portions, and the vibes were great. Must have in Kona.
First & foremost THANK YOU for serving *REAL* food. Also- Thank you for the insightful introduction to your offerings, and for the fun experience. If you’re a foodie, and have a true appreciation for the local culture, do yourself a favor and ditch your resort for the afternoon. You won’t regret it!
This is such a cute and hippies Bar. There are live music, and the bar staff, danced soooooo well with the music. They have the kava juice in a giant wooden bowl. It is my first time having it, it tastes very earthy, little numb, and actually tastes good. I love the vibe here. I do think the food here is alright. but the kava is really amazing.
Fantastic place to meet others and especially if traveling alone.Grindz are ono and people super cool cats. Groovy joint with music at times. Spent more time here than expected hanging out with some really great folks...
Came here our first night in Kona. The guy working the counter gave us a fascinating education/introduction to traditional Hawaiian food and to ‘Awa. My wife and I split a Pupu Platter which was enough food for the two of us and an amazing array of flavors and textures. Would definitely go back for the kalua pork, squid luau, lomi salmon, and uala. I never appreciated poi before but once it was explained that it was meant to be combined with other foods it made sense. Similar to potatoes or rice in other cultures, it’s the starch that helps cut the intense flavors of the other dishes (e.g. the saltiness of the kalua pork) and fills you up. Highly recommend this place to anyone seriously interested in food culture & history.
Went in May 2021 with family to try some items from their menu as this was something that was highly recommended from friends who live in the area. Walked up to the counter to order and waited for a few minutes. No worries at all - we were on vacation and enjoyed having no time pressure. It was a little busy at this time so all of the seating was taken. A young guy came up from behind the counter and was rude right off the bat. I asked if it was first come first serve on seating or if there was a reservation system in place. Was immediately scolded by the guy who said this isn't some yelp or Instagram spot, that it isn't some sit down restaurant, and that we need to either order or leave. Another man walks up following this and directly in front of me and my family, goes on to yell that people need to stop coming here because they saw this place on Yelp and that it's wasting his time. My family and I immediately left as this is no way to, one, treat people, and two, no place we'd ever even entertain the idea of visiting again. Would never recommend this place.
Friendly staff ono food and good kava and Hawaiian awa..
It has been probably 20 years since I was here, but I still remember the kava drink and highly recommend everyone should try it once. It doesn't taste very good, but the effect is very nice. I felt so mellow afterwards. The people who are frustrated waiting for the food should have a kava to mellow out.
